I'm trying not to get TOO giddy as a school girl, because I don't want to be disappointed. But yes, the potential is there. Keeping fingers crossed.
Best possible scenario is that Trump rips the party apart and then Republicans actually learn that they shouldn't back such civilization-threatening demagogues because ultimately they will do nothing but damage.
The only problem is that there could easily be an equally dangerous Trump figure, except more competent. And Republicans, as we know, would easily cling to that person like flies on shit.

This is more a Trump thing. He would rather destroy the party than stand down and accept he's done.
Rightist happily created and nursed the Trump monster and now their creation has come back to destroy them. They deserve all the damage he does.
It's very Mary Shelley and hilarious. I'm especially looking forward to Trump and Pence, as they were in the same admin and now they're attacking each other 🙂
Trump ‘furious’ over Dr. Oz loss, blaming wife Melania: report
Former President Donald Trump reportedly was “furious” Wednesday morning about Republican Dr. Mehmet Oz’s loss in the crucial Pennsylvania Senate race, and was blaming those in his circle — including wife Melania — for urging him to support the now-failed candidate. -snip

I love that the Far-Right NY Post has now shifted to shitting all over Trump.
Trump is supposed to announce today.
He believes running will shield him from investigations, and sees re-election as his "Hail, Mary" to staying out of jail, so there is virtually no chance he will not run.
No matter which candidate comes out of the Republican primary, he will be seriously wounded going into the general election. Especially with Trump annoucing so early, ensuring two years of Republicans attacking each other leading to the primary.

It's going to be so delicious.
Trump supporters identify with Trump, and believe they have a parasocial relationship with him. They will perceive people turning on Trump as turning on them, so they may not be swayed by the "Soros-controlled liberal media" and the "disloyal turncoat RINOs." Most Trump voters are sheep, so they will be shepherded to whomever the conservate braintust declares the new king. But if Trump is not the nominee, the hardcore Trumpers will sit out the election, or vote third-party for Trump. Either way, there is enough of them to spoil the election for Republicans.

They'll probably all turn on Trump now because it's a matter of survival for the party, much like Tories had to get of Liz Truss or be wiped out for good.
Adam's correct, while politicians and prominent people in the party will turn on Trump as we've seen with Pence, DeSantis and several others, Trump's core cult of voters are Jim Jones level of loyal to him, no matter what, not even an open insurrection turned them way from Trump. Trump has those zealots, their money and votes.

TBF, Republicans would likely lose in 2024 even without Trump running 3rd party, as they're not going to learn from their midterms disaster. But Trump going with his own "MAGA Patriots Party" would ensure defeat.
Should also be noted: these Rightist turning on Trump now, are turning on him because he's politically toxic and cost them votes/seats. The vast majority of them stuck with Trump after he sent domestic terrorist to attack our Capitol and tried to overturn a legal and fair election.
They're deplorables with or without Trump.

Both are correct.
Words can cause real harm, eg see Trump's words and what happened on Jan 6th 2021
There's nothing wrong with labelling terrorist as terrorist and Nazis as Nazis. If you Rightist have a problem being called such, maybe don't act that way?

But I suspect you knew this and are trying to cope with the Trump midterms slump. Go Trumped, Get Dumped 🙂
