we're supposed to forget that it was trump who ordered the withdrawal and negotiated with the taliban, leaving the afghan government out of the loop. we're also supposed to pretend that it's not precisely what the right wanted. what was supposed to happen differently? in which parallel universe do the taliban take their time strolling in, and the population is all cool with it and not terrified and under threat?
