The politicking is far superior to GoT and it's helped immeasurably by the super slow build up to the Dance of Dragons. Oddly the only person I don't like in that regard is Larys Strong because his machinations seems to ridiculously obvious yet nobody picks up on it and there also isn't anyone else for him to test his wits against, unlike the dynamic between say Littlefinger, Varys and Tyrion for example. The biggest downside so far is the lack of scope. Even just in Westeros a lot of the houses have so far been effectively ignored but that will change once they start to declare for either side in the coming war.
Like Tyrion he's consistently underestimated because of his disability. He also largely keeps in the shadows, unlike Tyrion who wanted to be respected for his wit and cunning. Though I suspect that will change now that he's a lord.
I don't know what happens, but I suspect his ego will get ahead of him, he'll overplay himself and he'll end up run through, burned alive on his head on a spike.
