It is more than the lesser of two evils imo. And yes, no doubt many Priti Patel types did.

I agree that being in the EU is better than not being in the EU. How much, though? Sure, we could debate that.

I mean, I get what you're saying. Legitimate abominable statements are at least honest protected speech while playing saying incendiary stuff can be a form of trolling. Lets be real though, Whirly is 90% button pushing. I suspect America is a whipping for for him (Granted we can be an easy target, but he really likes to dig at those wounds)

I do also think playing "devil's advocate" can be good for discussion though, in a world of echo chambers. Who else is going to say Brexit is good, or even justifiable, besides maybe Lone Ranger?

And I do at least try and research the good points of a talking point, like what there is to be gained from Brexit, if anything.

It depends. Sometimes he is, sometimes he isn't. He's like anyone else in this part of the board. No reason to single him out.

Didn't realize having a pro-brexit mentality was something u could get in trouble with mods over. I'm not really surpised though.

facepalm

Don't tell lies. Even someone like you should know better.

Never seen him take a ban though. 😅

Didn't one of the mods ban both Rob and Whirly for a couple of days as a birthday present to someone else? I know Rob did but I thought Whirly got it too.

Yup, they love this false equalisation thing and the mods are well aware who does what.

Can we get back on topic, please?

There have been many Brexit threads on here yet you people insist on creating new ones just to throw poo at each other.

Ffs.

👆 Bingo!

Np one gave me a birthday gift ban. 🙁

This last November 8 no one even wished a happy birthday. Stilt knew, he's a facebook buddy, not a word.

I just wish they gave more of a shit about Northern Ireland. The behaviour from Westminster has been disgraceful.

Happy belated, birthday.

And now the bizarre derailment starts.

Hypothetically, if the Tories continue their downward spiral, this could put the DUP and Libdems in a unique position of power.

DUP want to keep the union with the UK, Libdems want to keep the union with Europe. Now if there was some sort of compromise (which Theresa May, I believe was trying to do, then we'd have a plan forward. Keep open border between both for NI but restriction to new EU immigrants from NI via EU to GB like say, 5 years? It'd keep a stricter immigration on GB and keep open borders on the island of Ireland whilst maintaining free trade between NI and Ireland. Besides, Ireland uses the Euro, so there's already an economic difference between them.

Considering how often you've derailed threads you have no room to be complaining. 😉

I am the provocateur's provacateur.

Maybe I was Socrates in a past life, pissing off all the elites and voluntarily drinking hemlock.

Aside from the volunteer gift, I have never seen a mod action.

To my recollection.

At the moment.

Ahh, same old, same old stuff. From you guys. 😂

Pr, look at this here:

https://www.google.com/amp/s/amp.cnn.com/cnn/2021/11/12/opinions/kyle-rittenhouse-crying-ahmaud-arbery-killed-joseph/index.html

The writer is a professor with a PHD and joint professorship in civil rights and women's rights movements. He argues that Kyle and a gun represents white racist beliefs, while the way blacks with guns gets treated represents oppression.

This is an infurating argument because it sets a double standard no matter how you look at it. The argument being that whites and blacks can never be judged the same for doing the same thing.

Take riots. Black activists actually justify rioting by blacks because it is seen as a response to racism. You can loot, or burn down buildings, or even murder, and its all a cause and effect from a history caused by white racists.

And my problem isn't even about fairness or double standards that I feel affects me personally, not really. I'm just wondering where the heck the dialog is, exactly? I mean, what is there to discuss? When the argument is "Everything is your fault", that isn't really leaving much room for a dialog.

And people naturally shut down when they get cornered like this. If all you get is a double finger and a "**** you" from even trying to engage, you'll either shut down or lash out. That's just human nature.

For my part, I've responded by not caring anymore. So I'm a racist, fine. I'll be a racist.

**** it.

Whirly is arguably the most banned poster ever. Or he was at one point.

Sir, this is a Wendy's- I mean, a Brexit thread. Please get back on topic.

The DUP are some of the biggest idiots I've ever seen. Them having any more power at all would be disastrous.

I genuinely don't think they're going to do anything bar eventually, after years pissing and moaning, just hand Nothern Ireland back to Ireland.

I agree with you on the DUP. The one time they had a glimmer of power in Westminster and they ruin everything.

On the other hand, I think the Lib Dems are focusing on it. Alistair Carmichael is spokesperson for Home Affairs, Northern Ireland and Constitutional and political reform. A senior figure focusing on those issues implies they're focusing on the NI question. I personally welcome a united Ireland, with a few asterisks like I mentioned before. It's just, how do we structure the referendum, if there is one?
