The senior Tory backbencher who accused No 10 of trying to “blackmail” MPs seeking to oust Boris Johnson is to meet police to discuss his allegations.

William Wragg said he will be meeting a Scotland Yard detective in the House of Commons early next week, raising the prospect police could open an investigation.

The disclosure came after Downing Street said it would not be mounting its own inquiry into the claims, despite calls to do so by Conservative and opposition MPs.

BORIS johnson is despicable, as are those around him.

Wragg deserves some praise Tory or not.

So blackmailing good, but accusations of blackmail bad? Did I get that right?

Gotta love their continuing use of "there's no evidence so we won't be investigating it" forgetting the fact that an investigation is what you do find evidence after an accusation.

Imagine the police treated rape allegations the way the Tories treat any allegations.

Slander works because allegations are enough to ruin someone. Officials know this, and if they had to follow up every unsubstantiated case of slander or libel they'd be locked down and unable to do their jobs.
