I've contributed to this thread more than most, and I've seen enough stances to know that labelling them is irrelevent. It doesn't upset me, but it's a thread topic that has offered a lot of reasonable discussion in many of its pages, regardless of how much idiocy it has seen.

Seemingly it might be getting back to seeing some sort of decent lifespan, but this won't happen if people continue treading old ground. If you want to tread old ground with Doc, do so.

*does so*

Honestly, I can't think of any new ground to tread. I summed up my view fairly well a few hundred pages ago. It's all about consequences. period. End of story.

end of story... done deal... 4th and long... tell the fat lady she is on in 5.....did i miss anything?

Yes, a relevent contribution to topic.

It's all about choice, and letting the woman do as she wishes. The consequences -- whether you like them or not -- are none of your business.

Well, the consequences are none of your business, so I'm not sure where you're chasing that theory of yours.

Feel free to prove, realistically, why a woman's actions are your business.

Well, if you take the stance that abortion should be classified as murder, society has "rights" to be in your business and to regulate your behavior to some extent.

That's if you take the abortion/murder stance, which is factually incorrect. So those people are negligible.

Technically, by all genetic standards, the being is human...this cannot be denied.

You may aregue, often correctly, that the fetus is not subject to the same rights as other conscious/developed humans that are given to us by the Constitution and our legal system. You may argue, that 32 cells is a poor excuse for a human...and you are correct, but the cells still have the potential to develop into a full fleged citizen.

But, the fact remains...that fetus has a unique combination of DNA and is composed of human cells with great potential if properly brought to term.

no, its a human embryo, within a human uteris, which belongs to a human being.

an embryo is not a sentient being. to call it human is correct, as would be to call the mother's uteris human. however you wish to trick everyone by changing the meaning of what i say with inappropriate hilighting?

please stop with the semantics game. its really old and stale, makes no sense, and is a waste of time.

Yeah, there is quite a difference between being human and being a human.

For one thing one is an adjective and the other is a noun.

For one....for one.

IF you read what I said...i never called an embryo a sentient being.

A fetus is human...just as much as any cell with human DNA is.

A uterus is also human, but it is not a sperate entity...it is an organ of a human. A fetus is a seperate entity.

And, might I add, semantics are very important.

1. Its how we communicate and people should have the same idea of what words mean in order to convey their ideas effectively.

2. Words are loaded with defintion, and using them appropriately is essential, especially in legal matters such as this one.

So, if you don't want to play semantics, you don't have to. I never asked you. So don't push this problem off on me.

I agree. But in order to be a human...you must have human DNA.
