"No one gets to tell you who you can watch. No one gets to tell you what you have to think. No one gets to tell you who you have to hate. You're an American, and an adult; you can make those decisions yourself," said Mr Carlson, in a clip first highlighted by Twitter user @Acyn.

He made it up. Romanian authorities actually sent a release claiming the pizza boxes had nothing to do with it.
I don't even know who Andrew Tate is, but the fact this pizza thing was all over the news based on one sarcastic tweet is telling. It's a bad look for the MSM, and justifies those who claim not to trust the press.
From these, it appears the pizza boxes were likely still evidence. They just weren't the only pieces of evidence. This info was coming from Romanian media too, so it's not just your MSM boogeyman.

But Ramona Bolla, a spokesperson for DIICOT, refuted that the pizza boxes had anything to do with Tate’s arrest. Bolla told the Associated Press the rumor was “funny, but no.” Prosecutors said that Tate and his brother had been under criminal investigation since April, according to Reuters, when Tate’s Bucharest mansion was searched by police in connection with human trafficking allegations.
