A federal judge sentenced a South Mississippi minister to 20 years in prison for sexual conduct with a young boy in a bathtub while video chatting with a resident of the United Kingdom.

Tyler Selby's supporters, including family and church members, lined more than two benches in the courtroom at the sentencing hearing in U.S. District Court in Gulfport.

Selby served for many years as a worship leader at Emmanuel Baptist Church in Ocean Springs, and was the minister of music at Robinwood Baptist Church in Harrison County.

The crime, Assistant U.S. Attorney Lee Smith said, was "grotesque." Smith discounted the many letters that Judge Louis Guirola Jr. said he received in Selby's support. "I'm willing to wager that anyone who wrote a letter of support never watched the video," Smith told the judge.

In the video, Selby masturbated and instructed the little boy to wash Selby's genitals with a bath cloth.

I initially reported on this in a previous version of this thread that was deleted.

A North Dakota lawmaker was sentenced Wednesday to 10 years in federal prison after he pleaded guilty to traveling with intent to engage in illicit sexual conduct.

Ray Holmberg, 81, was a Grand Forks state senator for 45 years, and received a sentence that is longer than federal sentencing guidelines.

U.S. District Judge Daniel Hovland characterized Holmberg's conduct as "egregious and despicable" and said he did not think the guideline sentence of more than three years was adequate.

Holmberg, who appeared in court wearing shackles and a bright orange jail uniform, will also have to register as a sex offender.

Prosecutors allege Holmberg traveled to Prague in the Czech Republic 14 times between 2011 and 2021 to pay for sex with boys.

Holmberg resigned in 2022 after his many text messages with a man in jail in connection with child sexual abuse material came to light.

In 2012 and 2013, Holmberg posed as a teenage boy in an online chatroom for teens who had undergone circumcision, and misled and manipulated a 16-year-old Canadian boy into sending him explicit photos, the filing said.

The full story of the relationship is unclear because the boy later took his own life in 2021, "but no doubt Holmberg’s conduct contributed to his struggles," U.S. Attorney Jennifer Klemetsrud Puhl said.

Thursday, Nassau County Sheriff Bill Leeper announced the arrests of 23 people across Florida and Georgia—who he referred to as "real monsters" seeking sex with children—in a two-phase sting operation.

Detectives went undercover online, posing as minors, and were then able to intercept the suspects as they sought to meet up with "who they believed were children" for sex.

Those arrested included Willie Leon Wright, who NCSO said is a pastor from Green Cove Springs. He was also already registered as a sex offender. He is accused of attempting to meet up with a 14-year-old girl for sex.

Wright brought his three-year-old son with him to meet the fictitious girl. Wright was arrested at a gas station with his son in the car.

A metro pastor was arrested this week after he convinced his congregation to move in with him, and then molested a young girl.

Elmer Baca-Flores is the owner of a 501c3 nonprofit church labeled "Ministerio Levantando Adoradores Para Cristo Inc."

Two men told officials that their wives had been brainwashed by Flores and that he made them quit their jobs, grab their kids, and live with him.

The report stated that Flores told them he spoke for God, and that an underage girl was the speaker for God, and she was the "chosen one." They believed him and permitted her to sleep in his bedroom.

In March, the underage girl was taken to the CARES Center, and it was there that she told police he had molested her on several occasions. She said that Flores would perform loyalty tests on members of his congregation.

Gary Thomas "Tom" Keesee, son of Gary and Drenda Keesee—founders and senior pastors of Faith Life Church—a family-run, multi-campus megachurch in Ohio, is facing allegations of sexual abuse, including one from his sister, Kirsten McKinney. In addition to being a son of the Faith Life Church founders, Tom Keesee is also the chief media officer at the church.

Among the other victims is Olivia Wooten, who publicly revealed that she is a survivor in response to McKinney’s disclosure. "I am a survivor of sexual abuse, and my story was one that was silenced and covered up by the very community that was supposed to protect me. My old fears tried to stop me when deciding to open this case and It's taken a long time for me to find my voice, but I am no longer afraid to share my truth," she wrote on Facebook.

Olivia Wooten's husband, Nathan Wooten, who is a former employee of Faith Life Church, also said in a statement on Facebook that Tom Keesee confessed to him more than a decade ago that he had sexually assaulted his wife while she was a minor.

News of the joint investigation broke last week after Ohio Attorney General Dave Yost declined to probe the allegations, claiming a conflict of interest due to his friendships with Gary and Drenda Keesee.

The incidents were reported to have taken place in Mount Liberty and a residence on Sharp Road, both in Knox County. Gary and Drenda Keesee own 104 acres on Sharp Road and reside on Sharp Road.

Drenda Keesee regularly rages about "globalists, Democrats, the one world order" and "lies by the mainstream media," all of whom are "controlled by Satan."

The Archdiocese of New Orleans agreed to pay nearly $180 million to victims of clergy sexual abuse under a settlement announced Wednesday, the latest in a string of settlements by the Catholic Church.

The archdiocese, its parishes, and several insurers will pay $179.2 million into a trust to benefit survivors, according to a statement by the committee that negotiated the agreement. The money will be distributed after the church emerges from bankruptcy, it said.

But many of the survivors were not on board, their lawyers said. The agreement, which would settle a lawsuit filed in 2020, requires approval from the survivors as well as the bankruptcy court and other Archdiocese creditors.

In 2020, Archbishop Gregory Aymond held a ceremonial burning of the altar upon which a local priest videotaped his threeway with two hired dominatrices.

In 2021, his archdiocese declared bankruptcy in a move that was meant to shield church assets from abuse settlements.

That same year, the DOJ announced that the Archdiocese agreed to pay $1 million for falsifying FEMA claims related to Hurricane Katrina.

In 2022, it was reported that the FBI was investigating the New Orleans Archdiocese for molestation coverups going back decades.

In September 2023, the archdiocese announced it was selling millions in church property to settle abuse lawsuits.

In February of this year, it was revealed that the city's NFL franchise had collaborated with the archdiocese on a public relations campaign to stem fallout from the abuse allegations, including that lawyers for the team got to review the archdiocese's secret list of pedophile priests. Also, the team's president drafted a list of questions that that the archbishop would likely face from local reporters.
