I re-read the issues and I respectfully disagree with you here. After he was captured, Surfer did relish the pit-fights but he wasn't displayed in gladiator arenas. Indeed, Caiera had never even seen him before.

So I think it's more likely that Surfer came in after Hulk. But, y'know... I'm about 6 beers in and can't be bothered to argue the point.

We're all glad you have finally discovered drinking, my boy!

^ I've likely got decades more drinking experience than ya'll.

But that isn't the pertinent inquiry at the moment...

I just watched the 5th episode of Netflix's Sandman.

It immediately shot itself into the top 3 greatest tv episodes of all time I've ever watched.

The only question I have is this: which specific comic(s) was this episode based on?

the episodes are essentially the issues of Sandman.

The first season can largely be found in the first trade Preludes and Nocturnes.

If you're referring to the Planet Hulk fight against the Warbound, that's not exactly fair as the Sakaaran wormhole weakened every character that traveled through it to some undefined degree. And IIRC, Hulk had a chance to recover more from its debilitating effects than Surfer had a chance to. Either way, I kept it in there for the sake of completion.

Also, Surfer's fight w/ Hulk in Silver Surfer #125 is from 1997 and canon.

If you want to criticize the feats due to age, ok. So long as you don't hypocritically turn around and rely on 40 year old feats to prove your position. Me? I'm ok with relying on Batman Year One, Daredevil Born Again, etc. so long as they've not been rendered irrelevant by hard retcons or subsequent feats.

im not suggesting they aren’t valid but more recent showings hold more weight, characters go through a lot of changes.

Similar way I wouldn’t put a lot of weight in Deathstroke beating Batman in ‘strokes old solo series talking about how he’s so much stronger and faster when Batman has been heads railroading him in most encounters for a couple decades now.

Yes, well. That's basically what I said.

And Hulk hasn't been railroading Surfer in most encounters for a couple decades now. The exact opposite. By both our standards, the age of their fights doesn't override their consistency. Accordingly, the age should've been little (or no) reason to criticize their probative value.

Also, Deathstroke beat the crap out of powerless Black Adam, who famously beat the crap out of Batman. So the Deathstroke v. Batman debate?
