I ain't saying it was as poignant as a movie like Parasite, but it was a fantastic movie. I am flabbergasted that it was nominated and won Best Picture. But honestly, there's a deep sentimentality about family that the drama of the movie truly expresses.
The first movie that comes to mind is actually Close Encounters of the Third Kind. You won't see the family angle until close to the climax but I dare you to ignore it. It's a beautiful message. A beautiful movie.

So I was wondering what all the hype was about...... but Everything Everywhere All At Once was a brilliant movie.
By far, a worthy best movie nomination and a worthy winner. I will admit that I wept (not just cried) when Ke Huy Quan gave his penultimate monologue before the climax. I didn't watch many other nominated movies this year but that definitely felt worthy of the Oscar win. And he won.
Hopefully A24 studios doesn't sell out and they stick with the films they've been putting out.
Dont watch it on shrooms
Ome of my favorite scenes, an ex and potential ex bonding over a toke. 🙂
Still processing the movie, read a few Reddit's which may have been a mistake. The bagel I pointed out as a throwaway gag, some are taking it very seriously as some bizarre anti-Semitic trope, along with the "Big Nose" thing (Guess the actress was not only Jewish but playing a "big city princess Jew", whatever that means.
It's not just Reddit either they posted an article proving a backlash. Bottom line never look for opinions on a movie you decided you love, way too many party poopers out there.
Seriously sometimes a cigar is just a cigar.
Gecko, it looks like Switzerland has a lot of surgeries;

Real talk, I probably won't actively oppose it, but I don't get it. I mean, for the numbers to be rising, there has to be something causing it, no? All sorts of things out there, microplastics literally in our blood, essential oils in soaps and shampoos that mess up basic hormone systems. What if people are so obsessed with affirming gender, that the manufacturers are breathing a sigh of relief because they get to keep adding lead into gasoline and no one will think to investigate?
Maybe that's not even what's causing it, but just seems weird to me that suddenly we get all kinds of gender confusion.
On the other hand, I fully believe in "My body, my choice."
Though I think 10 is rather young for any sort of surgery, we won't even allow drinking or sex at that age (Seriously there are stories of minor's being charged as both a victim and victimizer due to being too young for Romeo and Juliet laws)
But on principle, I think people should be able to drive without a seatbelt, do drugs untll they OD, have their own BDSM leatherslave setups with master/slave contracts, you name it. "My body my choice", right?
Arguments against extreme liberty often talk of economic costs, but what DOESN'T affect the economy? Investors are more skittish then rats, they flood the economy with money and dump it if a pin drops, the fact is simply existing affects the economy. Restriction on personal autonomy because it makes a fatcat less rich is an AWFUL reason to control people.
As sick as this mindset is, I see a suicide and think "Control THAT, assholes!" Offing yourself is the ultmate form of autonomy, no one and nothing in the world can do a damn thing to you.

Social media and massive media in general are huge sources of body dysmorphia, it was probably something that was already bugging a lot of people before but the idea of transforming your body is slowly being more accepted so you get to see it more often.
At least you're a grown *ss adult and drugs make you actually stronger before killing you, when I see kids starving themselves because they want a six pack to "look ripped" it depresses me more than teens using hormone treatments. Masculinity is already so fragile and then kids decide not to eat properly on top of that wtf

Wait, when you say kids we're talking 16 and up right?
Because if you mean 8, then yeah that's kind of crazy.
Must have misheard, female robin is female.
Not a great pilot, but not awful either. SJW nonsense wasn't overt, but neither was Superman and Lois so maybe this is par for the course. I realize a gay and trans actor are in the cards, so LGBTQ+ representation will be a thing, but that's fine. Not really against representing, just against pandering (The second season of Umbrella Academy is an example of pandering, had that ridiculously over the top scene in the diner, like white racists were torch carrying villagers who treated black people like Frankensteins monster)
All in all I'll give Gotham Knights a fair shot. Can:t be worse then Batwoman.
