Mortal Kombat 2

The first casting has been revealed.. With Karl Urban as Johnny Cage. Probably not the best choice, but having loved plenty of his previous roles, can give the benefit of a doubt.

Cage alone will make me more receptive than with MK 2021 and its bland OC (even with him still being around), so there is that. The only saving graces the reboot had for me were Kano and Sub-Zero, but already get the feeling this will have more.

An odd choice for Johnny cage

I like Urban, but he’s too old.

Karl Urban is the best thing to happen to this cursed live-action franchise.

He won't be able to save it, but it's a step up.

He was mostly what made the original Doom film watchable, and I expect it will be the same with this.

And Johnny Cage has been middle aged in the more recent games.

Urban as Cage. Yeah I don’t see it. 🤨

Karl Urban is awesome. He can only improve the mediocre movie.

as long as karl urban calls people c$nts he'll be just fine

however the problem i'll have will be this film better have some great martial arts feats coz if it don't i'll shit all over it

This 2nd movie has to end up better then Mortal Kombat: Annihilation, Otherwise someone ****ed up.

At least she looks the part compared to MK 2021 Mileena, but I guess it also confirms they didnt know or care that the two are supposed to be clones apart from their choice of weapons and attire color. Oh, and the teeth, but even that looked awful in the previous film.

It can't be worse than the previous one, I suppose.

Martyn Ford is most likely Shao Kahn.

That’s actually pretty good casting. Ford is a decent actor, for a giant goon.

Martyn Ford next to a normal guy vs Martyn Ford next to the Dutch giant

Forgot to post about earlier, but plenty of photos had been shared earlier on, and now that it's July, can say a trailer will be shown sometime this month. Film comes out in October btw.

For better or worse, the 2021 movie set the bar on what to expect from this. While I really didn't care for that film outside of one character portrayal or two, have had plenty time now to better process and accept the film for what it was, but this new one here will be the real test since it actually has the tournament setting.

Side note, an issue I realized I had with the ninja outfits after the fact is that they look more like samurai, all decked out in armor. Ninjas are usually supposed to be about lightness in wear and stealth, but the MK ninja designs in this universe are the furthest thing from that aesthetically. I'll take the grim dark Shao Kahn mask here over the goofy one he had in Annihilation though.

They got the 90's cheese down with the marketing for Cage, will say that much.

That's more interesting at least than the fatalities as a selling point at this point in time. A talking point I forgot to bring up before with current live action MK, is the fatalities do nothing for me now. Kano does a heart rip? Yay, I've seen that kind of stuff before in John Wick, Rambo, and other shit. R rated MK came too late for that to still have a real shock factor, although some fans will like it, and if you do, more power to ya.

Oh wicked, Karl Urban as Johnny Cage. Im in lol

Literally the only thing that excited me was hearing the Urban is playing Cage.

Still going to be dirty ass.

Loved that Cage trailer.
