Oscars 2024

lol, how is Robert De Niro being nominated for an Oscar in 2024? He so obviously doesn’t care at all anymore, and only shows up for a paycheck.

He lives along the road from me. See him out and about every so often.

Nice.

Next time you pass him, tell him you know a yank who likes his "good-sized pecker":

He is a good actor, yes. And he also seems to have a pretty good-sized pecker from what I could tell.

Anyone who knows literally anything about film knows that Barbie is a very well-made movie. It may not be to your taste or have resonated with you but it's very good by any objective metric you can point out and if you disagree you're not only wrong but almost certainly biased. It was certainly a less flawed movie than Oppenheimer tbh.

You know how I know you’re gay?

Stop putting words in my mouth! And CERTAINLY don't put a pecker in my mouth!!

^^^As of right now…

The Zone of Interest is currently playing in theaters and is not yet available to rent or buy on demand. However, it will eventually stream on Max thanks to a deal between the streamer and the film's distributor, A24.

Ah, thanks. Hopefully I'll have access to it before the Oscars.

Same with Poor Things and American Fiction. 🤣

Godzilla Minus One winning for VFX would be nice

Wife and I tried to watch Maestro. I was tired admittedly, but I fell asleep after 15-20 min. It wasn't holding my attention. After hearing my wife explain more of it the next day I think I'm done with it. Sounds boring AF.

Tried to watch Past Lives the other night too and found it too boring. I think I'm more tired lately, yes, but some of these movies are too boring for my taste, too, because I have no desire to return to them. 🤷

I have much higher hopes for the other 3 that I haven't seen yet, they look much more interesting...

"American Fiction"
"Poor Things"
"The Zone of Interest"

The Academy’s have added a new category for 2026: Best Casting.
It’ll start out w. 2025 movies.

https://variety.com/2024/film/awards/oscars-new-best-casting-category-1235902419/

This is the first new category created by the Academy since 2001 for best animated feature film. The Casting Directors Branch was formed in July 2013 and has nearly 160 members.

That's a weird category. Especially since there's no action performance category, which would make more sense.

^^^Do action/stunt/fight coordinators have a branch?
You gotta have a branch.

The Zone of Interest will win.

The Boy and the Heron deserves best animated movie, but $100 says Spider-Man will take it.

Hm.. that one must be good. I'm looking forward to it.

Did see American Fiction last night and it was great. Very funny and witty.
