Anti-LGBTQ Activist Accused of Sexual Misconduct
Michael Brown—host of the nationally-syndicated Line of Fire radio program, and president, founder, and professor of practical theology at FIRE School of Ministry—admitted to a "definite lack of judgment" with a former female staffer.
The staffer who was only identified by her pseudonym, Erin, said she quit working at the FIRE School of Ministry in 2002 when she was just 21, because she had grown uncomfortable with Brown's frequent slapping of her buttocks, kisses on the lips, and hand-holding episodes.
Multiple former employees of the ministry say they witnessed what appeared to be inappropriate behavior between Brown and Erin, including Erin sitting in his lap. Erin also said that she found a letter while house-sitting for Brown and his wife Nancy in which he confessed to having an inappropriate relationship with a married woman.
Two weeks ago, The Line of Fire Board hired the law firm Mitchell, Stein, Carey, and Chapman to conduct a third-party investigation. Lee Stein is a former U.S. attorney and former Arizona assistant attorney general. Line of Fire board member Jonathan Bernis said the ministry will make the firm's final report public when the investigation is complete.
In a written statement, Brown said he is in agreement with the investigation because he is "shocked and horrified" by he accusations, some of which he said are "false statements" and "mischaracterizations." Brown denied ever committing adultery, and said all interactions with Erin were "non-sexual," but lacked judgment.
Michael Brown is a "Messianic Jew," who wrote the anti-LGBT book A Queer Thing Happened To America. In 2009, he brought an anti-LGBTQ mob to Charlotte Pride.
In the past, Brown has said that Facebook discriminates against Christians, because it will not allow them to advertise ex-gay torture; that Jesus will reward Christians for defying legal bans on ex-gay torture; and that Netflix is an "anti-straight bully," because it will not allow a "straight pride" group to use its logo.
He forgave Trump for adultery, assured Christians that Trump is still anti-LGBT despite making Pride month Xeets, and said demons were behind Trump's impeachment. Oh, and that reciting the names of people murdered by police at Black Lives Matter demonstrations is "witchcraft."
