Youth Pastor Arrested on Child Grooming Charge
According to DPS Sgt. Juan Gutierrez, Texas Rangers served a warrant and arrested 31-year-old Nathan Patrick Roach Friday, May 30th 2025 for child grooming, a third-degree felony. He was then booked into the Archer County jail.
According to a release, Rangers were called on March 18th to assist the Holliday Police Department with the allegation that Roach was involved in a sexual relationship with a child under the age of 18.
According to the affidavit, the relationship began in 2022 when the victim was 15. Up until 2024, Roach was the youth pastor and then became the lead pastor of FBC Holliday.
Pastor Arrested on Child Porn Charges
A Siler City pastor accused of possessing child pornography is facing multiple charges, according to the Siler City Police Department. Nelson Chay, 57, is charged with 10 counts of second-degree sexual exploitation of a minor.
In April, the department received an online tip about Chay, a pastor at Casa de Dios. Chay is accused of using the messaging app Kik to watch and distribute child pornography.
Investigators used a warrant to search Chay's home on May 29th, finding multiple electronic devices with child pornography. The Siler City Police Department is concerned that there could be victims who have not come forward.
Youth Pastor Gets 10 Years on Child Rape Charges
A Colorado man will spend 10 years in prison and 5 years on extended supervision for sexually assaulting a child while working as a youth pastor in 2003.
James Lane, 53, pleaded guilty to the charge in April and was convicted as a result. Attorney General Josh Kaul and Wood County District Attorney Jonathan Barnett said the case was reported through the Wisconsin Department of Justice Clergy and Faith Leader Abuse Initiative.
"As this conviction shows, the Clergy and Faith Leader Abuse Initiative is continuing to have an impact," Kaul previously said. "Thank you to the courageous survivor whose decision to make a report has led to accountability for the defendant."
Lane was a youth pastor at Faith Reformed Church in Wisconsin Rapids and had been living in Colorado. Lane admitted to assaulting the victim in his vehicle when he was driving the victim home.
Megachurch Pastor Arrested on Child Porn Charges
A North Texas pastor and elementary school teacher faces charges related to possession of material depicting the sexual abuse of children, officials said.
Lewisville police issued arrest warrants for Jim Mustain on April 23rd, the department said in a statement.
Mustain, community pastor at Frisco's Preston Trail Community Church, was extradited to North Texas.
Court records show he was booked into the Denton County Jail on May 14th.
The 64-year-old faces one count of possession of child pornography and four counts of possession or promotion of lewd material depicting a child.
Pastor Gets 25 Years for Molesting Daughters
An associate pastor at Midland Baptist Church and deacon at Coleman's Grace Baptist Church was sentenced to serve up to 25 years in prison for sexually abusing two of his daughters.
A jury found Scott Haught, 54, of Saginaw guilty of nine felony criminal sexual conduct charges after a two-and-a-half-day trial in March. He was sentenced Thursday, June 5th in Midland County's 42nd Circuit Court.
Midland County Chief Assistant Prosecutor Atea Duso, who tried the case, said Haught had the opportunity to plead guilty to two second-degree CSC charges and serve four years in prison, with the remaining charges dismissed.
Haught opted to go to trial and rejected the plea offer on February 27th.

Deacon Arrested on Child Sex Charges
A Burlington County deacon is facing multiple charges for having sex with a child multiple times.
On Friday, police announced the arrest of 44-year-old Shawn Tracey of Mount Holly.
Detectives say Tracey had sex with a girl under the age of 13 over a two-year period at multiple locations in Burlington County.
Tracey was arrested on Tuesday and charged with 10 counts of aggravated sexual assault, 13 counts of debauching the morals of a child, two counts of sexual assault, and one count of showing obscene material to a minor.
Youth Pastor Gets 21 Years on Child Sex Charges
In June 2024, then 39-year-old Ryan McElrath, a youth pastor at Fellowship Bible Church in Jackson, was booked into the Madison County jail on charges involving inappropriate sexual conduct with a minor.
In February 2025, McElrath pled guilty to "use of a facility and means of interstate commerce to persuade, induce, or entice a minor to engage in criminal sexual acts." The plea agreement includes that McElrath will be placed on the national sex offender registry.
On June 6th 2025, McElrath was sentenced at the U.S. District Court in Jackson to 252 months (21 years) in federal custody and five years supervised release. He was also ordered to pay over $8,000 in restitution.

May was taken into custody Wednesday afternoon at his house, according to a source familiar with the investigation.

A forensic analysis of May’s phone showed he deleted Kik, Loki Messenger, Mega, and Telegram within seconds of each other in April 2024.
May's Mega account was registered to the name "Eric Rentling," which was an alias he used to create a Facebook account in that name.
Investigators found the photo associated with the Facebook account "to be a picture of the back of May's head."
Investigators also found the Eric Rentling account had conversations in Spanish with women from Colombia that "consisted largely of arranging meet up dates, time, price negotiations, and rules regarding the videoing of sexual encounters, all of which are indicative of sex work."
May would also conduct Facebook searches on South Carolina political candidates while on the Eric Rentling account, including those of his most recent primary opponent.
The memo further states May's activity on Kik revealed "he has a sexual interest in children the same age as his own children" and that he has "a sexual interest in incest" between young children and their parents, as well as beastiality.
