What a fun movie!

No complaints here. Loved the post credits scene.

3.6 roentgen.

Not great, not terrible.

Sentry was pretty dope but you know,
Spoiler:
his powers are just Superman's with a couple of extras. But his story obviously completely different to Kal's
Bob's baseline stats and whatnot are very much Superman-esque. That said, his overall powerset has always been ambiguously tied to some form of subconscious/esoteric matter manipulation, and allows him to do virtually anything he wants(we caught a glimpse of that with Void)... But yeah, Bob is a legit walking plot-device in comics, so I can only assume the MCU will continue using him in that kind of capacity(ie. when he finally enters the fray, you know shit is about to go down.) Should be fun to see.

Sorta/kinda implies that Galactus(or possibly God Doom?) will ultimately 'win' in First Steps, no? Why else would the F4 hop-into a different universe?

It makes sense. They had to get the FF into the main MCU continuity somehow since First Steps takes place in an alternate timeline as well as
5 decades in the past. They probably leave Earth in the process of being devoured to find help. Or its destroyed and theyre the sole survivors.

Kind of what I'm thinking. 👆

Spoiler:
But given that we know RDJ/God Doom is on the horizon, I'd be absolutely shocked if he weren't teased/revealed in First Steps, and potentially the reason why the F4 fled their universe... Perhaps Reed already knew about the sacred timeline and just went there reflexively, or maybe his sensors were able to lock onto Bob's massive energy signature, so the F4 went there to recruit the strongest heroes or w/e(of which Bob undoubtedly IS.) /shrug

Anyway, the movie itself was better than I thought it would be, but still far from great. I am curious to see how this phase of the MCU continues from here, though.

Really good imo. Thunderbolts and FF4 will be a return to form for the MCU.

Pugh and Pullman were great

Spoiler:
I think he does know about the sacred timeline. Or at least suspects. There's that scene where they show a wormhole on his blackboard, which I'm assuming will play a role in how they escape into the mainlineverse. And Doom could be revealed to be the reason Galactus is drawn to Earth in the first place. Reed places the blame on himself for the accident that turned them into the FF, but it's Doom doing some technomagic in Latveria, playing with forces he doesn't understand or something. Or just to spite Reed because Doom is an S-Tier hater.

I thoroughly enjoyed it. One of the best MCU flicks of the past few years, and it's nice to see people have to be creative to win a fight. You can't punch every problem. Also, Sentry looked great and the all black effect of Void was chefs kiss.

Oooo I like that!

I was actually a bit skeptical when I first saw the actor they cast as Bob, but he was actually perfect for the role... And now that Sentry has been introduced, the MCU now has access to one of the most broken dues ex machinas imaginable(enough to potentially outstrip even the Wanda-haxx, depending on what direction they opt to go with Bob)... Which is wild to think about, lol. Bob is like the ultimate K9: get him focused, point him at a problem(no matter how big), and just say "go". 👆

And as OP as he is, his weakness is always valid. Whenever you point Sentry at a problem, you risk The Void making an appearance so they can't use him willy nilly, which means he stays viable and doesn't become an instant fix for every problem going forward.

Exactly. And that's what I appreciate about Bob.

You might only need a bullet, but end up with a nuke.

Liked it, but a upper mid tier MCU film imo. Phase 5 did overall improve over the mostly shitshow of Phase 4.

They should have spent more time with Sentry instead of his dark half, that sequence went on way too long imo.

Red Guardian's humor got old to me pretty quick.

I enjoyed this film a lot. Definitely one of the best films of the new phase, and although not as good as the first GOTG, I think it's on par with the second one, which is still a high bar. Yelena was a good protagonist, but I think David Harbour definitely stole the show as the most likeable character. Sentry was an absolutely beast, and Void was a horror film-level nightmare. Walker was good, but his character seemed more two dimensional than the others, and Ghost was relatively fun as well, but she could have used more characterization compared to the others. Valentina was your standard corrupt political villain, but she did seem more clever than the usual ones, and Dreyfus brought her classic comedic chops to the role. Bucky was great as usual, and I liked how his scene in the desert seemed like a nod to the Terminator. Can't wait to see more of this team and their collaboration with other MCU heroes. I think Bob and Hulk will get along well considering that they are both mentally damaged loners with unstoppable alter ego that they have to suppress. Speaking of Hulk, this is the second MCU film in a row that features a villain that is a sympathetic mentally unstable person who has a WMD-level Mr. Hyde-esque dark side. This film definitely gets a 8/10, and I think that between this, FF, and BNW (which I personally liked), it seems like the MCU is on track to have a good year.

One question I did have was

Spoiler:
how did Red Guardian and Bucky find the group in the desert? Red Guardian came out of nowhere with his limo and Bucky did essentially the same with his motorcycle. The group had just gotten out of a car crash and were in the middle of a car chase respectively, so IDK how they got tracked down so easily. Also, I was somewhat disappointed with Taskmaster's quick death. Her involvement in the film felt like false advertising as she is heavily featured in the marketing despite not even making it past the first act of the film, and wasn't really necessary, not to mention they could have definitely given her a more dignified death, preferably a sacrifice, and the characters essentially laugh off her death and forget about it right after it happens. A sad waste of a potentially interesting character imo

That would be pretty dark. Im guessing they save their world but thrown into another one in the process. Kinda like how Captain America the First Avenger ended.

It's called New Avengers now. Rename the thread pls.

Well s*** they actually did that.

*New Avengers.

For a company that usually can't hold water in a bucket, it's impressive they managed to keep the reason for "Thunderbolts*" secret until the movie was out.

*Yup.

Pfft, I knew that way back in like 2022.
