yeah, I read that part, and your commentary that that explanation was too convenient, too 'self heroic' to be accurate.

even more than that, it was a typical DaDudeStory. they always followed the same pattern. he kept his cool and the irrational retards finally calmed down and realized that they were in the presence of greatness. whether they lighten up and befriend him, or slink off into the darkness hissing, he'd always be the quirky hero protagonist.

when you see it enough, you just know it's bullshit. like when the president tells the same story about the big tough guy who had tears in his eyes and said "sir"...

Hmm, I guess I didn't give him enough attention to establish the pattern. The few interactions I had with him, or bore witness to was a more sudued form of the same circular reasoning shit Quan pulled so often, and by that point I was so numb to it I just didn't give it any space in my brain to process. Heck by that point, I would have been likely inclined to just say "Whatever, Van Zan still lost to a woodchipper, your argument is invalid" and called it a day, Because I honestly couldn't have given half a thimble full of liquid $h!t as to what he had to say by then.

Denton Van Zan what a silly pony to back. I used to consider him just poorly written, but he's also a known plot device to test the hero. Like Christopher Waltz in Django Unchained. Seems like a good teammate until he does something selfish and stupid to make everything worse for the hero, and dies stupidly in the process. To see them trying to put him over as a champion was just "in your face" offensive

look dude it's like you watched the last season of game of thrones, without seeing the previous seasons, and you're like "why does everyone automatically hate Cersea. I could see that she had some questionable moments, sure, but what the hell man...and what's up Sansa's ass? (Sorry)"

It's been a long while since I posted comedy gold/fire like that, and y'all just yawned

I mean, I actually didn't know how to respond to that besides "Lol" but I guess the funny answer would have been "It was either the knowledge of the imminent failure of the final season, or following up with a Dark Phoenix rising in her buttcrack 😛 "

Plus I set up a stupidly unrealistic scenario. Someone sees only season 8, but still holds enough interest in the story to want to learn more about it? What nonsense

True, one would have to be either morbidly curious, or be told that the earlier seasons were better, to be bothered to go back and have a look.

Funny thing though, because I wrote a lot back in the day, I actually had to do research for A Song of Ice and Fire/Game of Thrones. I probably know far more about that series than I should 😛

Well... Not 'Always' He often as sex and violence in those books. Though often not all mutually exclusive.
