The Hulkbuster Iron Man ripoff, known as the Hammer of Boravia, seriously injured Superman at the beginning of the movie - that's what really turned me off from the film.

The suit was just to disguise Ultraman, the stronger clone of Superman Rob mentioned. It wasn't actually relevant to the fight and only served to hide who he was and let the Lex Techs spout Boravian propaganda to help further the conflict between them and and Jarhanpur while slandering Superman. So the only reason he was hurt was because he was fighting a stronger version of himself that had a playbook to counter all his moves in real time.

Ultraman was said to be stronger, but there's nothing in the movie to support that statement.

I mean, you've got Lex's direct statement to Superman, one of the smartest people in the world, capable of cloning Superman and recreating the Big Bang just so he could have his own pocket universe prison. We can also assume he created the infinitely growing, fire-breathing Kaiju. We've got the other statement where he's showing off Ultraman and Engineer and says he's the strongest being on the planet. And every time they fought, Ultraman seemed to have a physical advantage while Clark used skill and creativity.

Lex has no reason to lie, especially since he's studied Clark so much he knows what moves to use on him before he can retaliate and has free access to his DNA and genome so likely put Ultraman under extensive testing to make sure he was capable of being Supes in a fight. You don't have to like it, but the movie was making it clear that Ultraman was better, but dumber.

I dunno the scene where Supes was being suffocated (they should have explained that better given the guy can sit on the moon), and he shot up, seemed like Ultraman had trouble keeping up and felt in danger.

Lex does have reason to lie - he's selling his product.

As for Clark losing, he's so used to holding back it makes sense he would lose a lot first before really deciding he can let lose. Although the losses were more attributed to Lex's superior battle strategies.

Lex has no way of knowing Superman's exact limits - the clone just doesn't hold back like Clark does. Also, Superman beat the shit out of him when Lex lost control, and he basically overpowered him at the end when he killed him.

This Superman needs air, while they noted that he can hold his breath for about an hour, he needs to have filled his lungs first. The nanites occupied his lungs so there would be no room for oxygen, though it made no sense that he couldn't have just expelled them with his super breath ability.

Ultraman (Bizzaro) came off as physically stronger most of the times they clashed. Which fits with a lot of Bizzaro's comic showings, he's physically stronger, but stupid.

That monster was extremely light. Godzilla would have one shot it. Just throwing that in there.

What gets me is that Supergirl can either survive in the vacuum of space for days or weeks, or she's insanely faster than light, allowing her to travel hundreds or even thousands of light-years within an hour.

I remember that the comic version of Superman used to need air to breathe years ago, but more recent versions no longer require it. Maybe that's the direction Gunn is going; Superman evolving to the point where he can move planets, survive supernovas, and no longer need air or food to sustain himself.

Wow, I didn't know that. That actually makes sense - otherwise, the whole movie seems ridiculous for letting an Iron Man knockoff seriously injure Superman.

The monster wasn't light, assuming it had human-like density. Godzilla, on the other hand, is extremely dense. A 6-foot version would weigh around 800 to 900 pounds on average.

She goes to planets with red suns to party, so she must be travelling by space ship.

Seems like you only watched the first 30mins then walked out.

FTL in the vacuum of space is something heroes accomplish on the regular. She could also have used a ship to go club hoping, maybe the ship she arrived in.
