JKR has stipulated that all members of the cast be British with the exception of the actors playing foreign characters, I read that when PS/SS came out.
That is the reason Steven Spielberg took a pass at directing the first movie, he wanted Haley Joel Osment to play Harry and JKR said no.
I understand it took her awhile to accept Richard Harris as Dumbledore because he was Irish.
So unless she changes her mind, there will be NO Americans in the cast.

So, who will play Tonks? In my opinion, she'll be an actress we've never heard of before.

lol! I can understand the British accent thing. In LOTR many of the actors didn't have an accent but they had specialists (or whateve they're called) come in and teach them how to talk with an accent the right way. They probably don't have enough money to do that in Harry Potter. It probably will be someone we haven't seen before. I'm about ready for a new actor to come in. Seeing the same person over and over in movies gets a little old.

I think she might become an important character in the later books or maybe not tho it's still ok if she wasn't. I find her interesting too and friendly. Wow, I was thinking that she might end up with Oliver too. 🙂

Maybe Kira Knightly. I mean she is young enough and quirky enough to play Tonks. Think of all the hair dying and facial changes. Any other suggestions?

Not Kira Knightly, maybe Reese Witherspoon or something. Reese would be perfect, not that she's one of my favourite actors or something.

i agree, i definetly think that she will have a huge role in the upcoming books...but oliver wood?

i dunno if any of u guys hav ever played The Sims or The Sims Bustin Out for PS2 but i hav both of em & on my Bustin Out game i have tonks & remus as a couple in freeplay mode 😉
