Truffaut films are excellent. The Last Metro is good.

...except "Fahrenheit 451", heh.

have you seen the film La Haine great film

Of course. It's a fabulous French film and one of my favourites. I'm surprised if a film fan of French films hasn't seen it. Have you seen the version with the colour added onto scenes?

...except "Fahrenheit 451", heh.

Have yet to see the English film he made. Apparently it had a lot of problems between the cast and crew on set when making it.

Anyone seen

A Pure Formality (one of my all time favourite films)
Man On The Train
I Stand Alone

all excellent french films...

Hum...the first it's good, but the 2&3...bad films...

Amelie, La Haine, Leon, Nikita...good choice. 🙂

Some other nice films :

_les tontons flingueurs aka Monsieur Gangster

_Le bossu(the version 1960 of André Hunebelle is the best for me, with Jean Marais and Bourvil - "If you don't come to Lagardère, Lagardère will go to you!"😉 aka The King's Avenger

_ Dobermann aka Dobermann

_L'auberge Espagnole aka Euro pudding

_Le pacte des loups aka Brotherhood of the Wolf

_ Irréversible aka Irreversible

Pas l'auberge espagnole... ! doh

LoL, cause you dislike Romain Duris? 😄

I kinda liked him, but Arsène Lupin ruined everything. (Yet he was ok in "L'auberge espagnole" and rather good in "Osmose"😉. I guess I just found "L'auberge espagnole" quite boring and uninteresting... 😬

Ok.
I suppose then you'll not see "les poupées russes" ?

(Arsène "catastrophe" Lupin, i agree...)

I just picked up 'I Stand Alone' good hear a rave review before I watch it. 😄

I just saw the sequel to a good Jean Reno film, "The Crimson Rivers". It's called "The Crimson Rivers: Angels of the Apochalypse". It's a pretty good movie, then again Jean Reno is one of the best actors alive.

"Wasabi" is a hillarious Jean Reno movie.

The Crimson Rivers is far superior to the second film, but at least the second film had some nice sequences in it and the music score was fabulous.

Wasabi is fantastic!

I saw Tanguy yesterday. It was ok. Nothing special, but I liked it. As I have problems with original titles: Chocolate? I'm not sure. With Depp. Awesome movie. I cried.

But I cried even at Ghost Busters. I was very tired 😛

"Chocolat" by Lasse Hällstrom is not a French movie...It's in English, the director is Swedish and the money comes from Britain and the US...

Didn't see Tanguy, for I dislike French comedies...

say GP; do movies from the Walloon area count too?

I checked in the history of the Césars and La promesse, by the Dardenne brothers, was considered as a foreign movie (whereas Luc Besson's fifth element was considered a French movie ! 😘 ).
On the one hand we have the American way of putting it, that would consider, that, after all, it's a French speaking movie. On the other hand I dread that putting a walloon film here would be a pity for the Belgian film industry.

So if you don't really care about the Belgian film industry renown, go ahead 🙂 .

Oh, and since I named some French movies in the Movie recommandations thread, I can put them there as well. I'll make complete reviews later.

French films released in 2004 :

- Mondovino (though it's a French-Italian-American-Argentinian film) : about the wine today all over the days. The things at stake...
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0411674/

- A tout de suite, nice film in black and white about a Parisian wealthy girl that falls in love with a robber and get abandoned in Morocco while they escape...
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0407342/

- Rois et Reine : "Parallel storylines tell the current state of affairs for two ex-lovers: Nora's a single mother who comes to care for her terminally ill father; holed in up in mental ward, Ismael, a brilliant musician, plots his escape" (imdb)
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0344273/

well, nothing good comes from belgium anyway 😉

there was a movie about a crew following a hitman (a lousy one even), twas in black & white. Think it was french?

There was that Belgian film about a hitman

"La mémoire du tueur"

It's made in 2004? then I think of an older one 😖

Recently Ive seen a collection of french films, and all of them were good, but by far the best were the two films 'La Chevre' and 'Les comperes'. Great cast, great plot, great jokes, and great music!!!!!!! It was a beauty of film making
