Three Colours Trilogy is excellent, Blue is amazing.

I love everything I've seen by Truffaut. Jean Renoir is great from what I've seen. Love both The River and The Grand Illusion.

I'm the only person I can think of who didn't enjoy Amélie at all.

my boy friend didnt enjoy "Amelie" that much either. lol

well.... he said he preferred "A Very Long Engagement" more.

i like red more. have you seen other kieslowski movies?

A Short Film About Killing, The Double Life of Veronique and obviously the Colours trilogy. Haven't seen a lot of his directed work, but want to see more. Hell is also good, but think he did the writing for this one.

you may find them a bit hard to get but do see the decalogue (sp?)

a short film about love and a short film about killing are parts of it.

of course, these are no more FRENCH movies 😛

other french movie i love and recall right now is Delicatessen

Jean-Pierre J. (made Amelie) made it, and i was wondering if it was worth watching.

I cant remember too much about it other than the begining with the Santas was very creepy and that i liked it
I may give it a 2nd look this week.

It's probably one of the more mainstream foreign films. It's pretty decent, nonetheless.

what a waist of excitement, i tell ya. lol

i rmemeber the beginning, the little girl, and the little woman...

thats hilarious, if u think about it. lol

Haven't seen that many, but just about every French movie I saw really impressed me. They seem to be more realistic and intense that the average. And those French sure know how to make action movies, without cramming them full of CGI effects.
Stuff like Crimson Rivers and District 13 puts hollywood to shame in that genre.

Argh I adore Crimson Rivers, excellent film. Was not so keen on District 13, still had some good scenes though.

was D13 a good movie? i know its supposed to have some insane fighting scenes. 😛

my Video store never got it 🙁

okay and another question. (my sig) has anyone seen Dikkenek, and is it funny?

I saw a video of Marion, on YouTube or something and i laughed my ass off.

I saw this topic, read it through, and was very shocked. NO ONE MENTIONED MELVILLE?! 😱 Jean-Pierre Melville definitely belongs in this conversation. Le Samourai, Le Cercle Rouge, Army of Shadows, etc. How can you guys have missed him? 😑

I've never seen his movies 🙁

i'm sorry.

it's not like melville is the only luminary missing. malle, bunuel, rohmer, rivette...
