'a1ant' from http://www.x3movie.net/ sent us a couple of interesting items about the "X-Men" franchise. First up is word and pictures of a Sentinel maquette that was created for X2: X-Men United...
A look at what may come X3 and future X-MEN films. Guy Dyas and James Jones designed this maquette/ sculpture for the computer animators to create a fully CGI Sentinel. Jones provided us with hi-res photos featuring this very maquette/ sculpture.
According to James Jones, the Sentinel would've cost around $8 million!!! Due to the high price, and the budget that X2 had, the mutant hunting machine was cut from the film, including many other planned characters.
*The sculpture is hollow in to show how it can retract itself into a disk.
A previous quote from Bryan Singer (originally appeared in Total Film Magazine):
"The Sentinels are something we looked at for X2. I originally brought Guy Dyas, my production designer, on board to do Sentinel designs for me and he came up with a clever design and built a maquette of it, which actually sits in my home! But we felt, for X2, the concept of giant robots is a difficult sell. But it's definitely something we may have room for in the future."
Hit the link above for the pics! Also, the site has learned that while Daniel Cudmore (aka Colossus) has signed a sequel option with 20th Century Fox, the studio has not exercized their option for Cudmore to return in X-Men 3 just yet.
From countingdown.com:
"Director Guillermo del Toro (Hellboy) recently sat down with Empire Online for a live webchat. The whole interview is great (surprising for the webchat format), but here's what's really relevant to us X-Fans:
Alex: Would you ever consider bidding for the X-Men 3 helming duty now that Bryan Singer is tied up with Superman.
Guillermo: Alex, I hear that Joss Whedon is doing it and as a fan I think that's perfect. I think that the character I love the most in the X-Men mythology is Beast, so it's too close to Hellboy for comfort.
del Toro confirmed on the Hellsite message boards that he's simply responding to the same internet rumors we've all heard, but having watched Whedon's television series 'Firefly', thinks he's the right man for the job! Hit the link below for the full interview!"

WHOO JOSS WHEDON DOING X3 MOVIE i bet he will do a better job than BS's X1 movie or X2 and i hope he puts in the sentinels.that would make the movie better. and if it comes out around the same time as superman their will be a battle to see who can bring in the most money. now that i dont know who would win but if joss ads sentinels in the movie i think X3 will win. but if X3 bombs i will still like the movie most likely.
Possible.
In X-Men, the team had dealt with Magneto's Brotherhood ... and with Magneto's evil plan...
In X2, the team had dealt with Striker, Wolverine's past, Kurt's joining X-Men... and still with Magneto.
In X3, it wouldn't be so impossible that the team could deal with Phoenix, the Mastermind, Gambit's joining the X-Men, and the Sentinels all at the same and in one movie.
One time I had a dream that the X2 DVD had extra stuff on it and I found that the movie continued on it from where it left off and I remember seeing it in my dream, it was so cool, it was a continuation of the movie and there was more action and everything and Beast was in it too. I was soooooooooooo disappointed and depressed when I woke up and realized that it was only a dream.

Davison: 'X-Men 3' in limbo as director deals with that other superhero
September 6, 2004
X won't be marking the spot anytime soon. "X-Men 3" seems to be taking its time moving toward the multiplex.
"I don't know what the story is with the third film," said character actor Bruce Davison, who starred in the first two films.
"I had lunch with ['X-Men' director] Bryan Singer in Vancouver recently and he seems pretty busy. I know he wants to make 'Logan's Run' and he's directing 'Superman' now," Davison told GLARE.
So where does that leave the third in the "X-Men" franchise? "I know they're trying to put a script together for 'X-Men 3,' but no one knows how the story is going to evolve."
He's also heard rumors that Halle Berry won't come back as Storm because the part isn't large enough. "I guess I could play Storm if all else fails," he said. "I'd just have to get a wig."
No wig needed for Davison's latest film, "Evergreen," opening Friday. "It's a coming-of-age film, but the characters are complex," he said. "It's not a predictable film or one with a happy ending, which is appealing because it's real."
It's another film to add to the almost 100 this actor has listed on his filmography.
