the key factor to quitting is your desire. if you truly do not want to smoke then you will be able to quit. if you still believe that you enjoy smoking you will have a harder time quitting. but what do i know, i was able to quit smoking the first time i tried after 10 years of smoking... but i cannot quit smoking pot... but i don't want to quit that. i truly enjoy that.
I stopped 2 years ago in April. I was smoking 20-30 a day. It was costing me about £120/month and I was skint and had to move house so the cigs had to go!
This is how it went for me -
I found being in places where I wasn't used to smoking helped, the worst place was the car 'cos the first thing I did when I got in the car was light up so I started walking everywhere (within reason!).
The first week was easy the 2nd ok, 3rd hard, 4th terrible (ask my friends!). By the end of the 5th week it started getting easier and continued to do so!
Another thing I found was I became very chesty for about 6 months afterwards while my lungs started clearing out.
2 years on I'm really glad I stuck with it, I no longer stink of cigs, I can taste again, if I get a cold it doesn't seem to be anywhere as bad, and I do genuinely feel much healthier.
Stick with my friends my thoughts are with you!!!!
Right on! After reading your posts, I'm truly inspired to quit smoking. I've connected with a few others and were thinking of quitting before mid august. So, I guess that would be beginning/mid august. Thanks again for all your support! And I've said it once, and I'll say it again and again, I love you guys, but I'm not gonna marry you.
