I know that the consensus is that she does not die in EP.III but...
Look at all the important characters in the prequel that do survive and make it to the "original" movies:
OB1, YODA, VADER, SIDIOUS, Chewie, Bail, BOBA

All these characters, except Chewie, only die in ANH, or Empire, or ROTJ.

All other important characters in the prequel DIE in the prequel:
Mace; Maul; Dooku; Jango; Jar Jar (hopefully); all the Jedi.

My point is, the ones who survive in the prequel make it to the "sequel", ALL OTHERS MUST DIE. Even if GL makes the absurdity of a "...three years later..."shot with Padmé's death it must happen in the movie.
Padmé's death IS the ultimate turning point for Anakin's journey to the dark side, and it will be the climax, or anti-climax, of the whole prequel.

My bet is she will die defending her principles, and Anakin will already be scarred and in the service of the Emperor but not yet Vader.

What's the fun in a MAIN CHARACTER of the whole trilogy NOT diyng on screen?

Imhotep is right but I would like to say what would happen if it was the sand people. The Tusken Raiders could have cause the death of Anakin's mother and wife. You never know.

i c wer u gettin imhotep and i agree which is why i said the jedi or somone (mamy even palpatine) will fake her deth for her pertection (or in palpatines case to turn anikin) and anikin will get pissed and o all bad and evil then shel die imbatween ep 3 and 4........................................ but we just have to wait till may 2005 2 find out lol 😛

So That's it, Padme might die or not die in EpIII. And if she does die in EpIII, it will probably be shown in a "A Few years later" kind of thing at the end of the movie. Ok.
