Infinity Ward: Racist and Homophobic?

Good news and bad news. The good news, offended groups of people have their eyes on something that isn't a zombie game. Bad news, their anger is aimed at Infinity Ward and it's top selling game Modern Warfare 2.

Various portions of the campaign in Modern Warfare 2 have caused some controversy in certain communities. The depiction of a massacre carried out in a Russian airport has caused anger in the international community. Additionally, an easter egg early in the campaign involving the don't ask, don't tell policy of the American military has led some to accuse the game and its developers of homophobia.

Here are videos showing what has these groups of people flipped.

People die in airports, that sort of thing just happens.

It's a very common stereotype for American soldiers to all be homophobic, doesn't mean the developers are. In fact that's not even a homophobic remark.

I hear the game sucks anyway.

Most of the reviews I saw/read were by people who found it very disappointing.

Here:

http://www.gamespot.com/xbox360/action/modernwarfare2/review.html

Writers (press) gave it a 9.3. Users gave it a 9. (really high scores.)

Here, the readers gave it an 8.3. IGN gave it a 9.5.

Those are really high scores.

DragonAge: Origins was also a really good game..that might win an award or two. So was Assassins Creed II.

Dude, that's not what I meant. 😆

I just said that because you seemed newbish to MW2 or gaming in general, so I figured I'd throw in there that that was a high score and not a commonly thrown out score.

NOPE! It's majoritarianism. That's why we keep getting these types of games: damned gamers are outvoting the minority through their purchasing powah!

The airport controversy is old news. It was meant to upset and offend and disturb people; it achieved its goal - it's arguably the most disturbing, powerful and haunting scene in video game history. It was done for artistic reasons.

The easter egg thing is just silly. How anyone can get offended at that boggles my mind. Stupid people saying stupid things, once again.

Also, as far as the quality of the game, many of the people criticizing the game are doing so because they are angry that IW didn't include the option to have dedicated servers for the PC version of the game, and so they are ostracizing the game in its entirety, often not even playing the game before posting criticisms online, thus rendering their opinion on the quality of the game invalid. The game is actually outstanding. Has some amazing levels and twists.

how about gay people find someone who's really "homophobic" and kick his ass instead of someone trying to be a comedian when they make a game.

Don't worry 'bout me daddy-o. I'm hip to the pulse of this newfangled "galvanic entertainment" craze.

Yeah! angrymob

The people bashing the game are the same group that wants Uncharted 2 to be game of the year. Thus, they rant on MW2 (which by all reason it is the superior game) to make it look bad.

In other words....PS3 sucks.

Its just one of those sick humor things you find in most FPS games, whether its the legs in the washing machine in "Blood" or the dancing nudes in "Duke Nukem" not to mention the whole "Postal" game which is one big sick sort of humor game.

Any one who buys these sort of war type games has to be prepared for not very nice content, that´s blatantly obvious. But there´s obviously some hippy politically correct type people who get these games with the sole purpose of finding what in their eyes is "unappropriated" content.

Why do they do this? Because they want the whole world to be like them, so in a way it is a form of attempted oppression to force people to be hold hands sing songs around the fire and be all happy wee hee, there´s only one problem THE WORLD ISN´T LIKE THAT so wake the fook up you morons, and don´t go to dark cold places if you prefer the light and warmth of the sun.

^^^

also, you'd be dumb as hell to expect soldiers not to make jokes like this irl.

Just like the gays who sued Bible publishers, the guys attacking MW2 just want attention although I don't think the international community is screwing around when they're the ones being offended when seeing nothing but their people shot up without mercy. This is Resident Evil 5 all over again but this time, the residents are Russian and they aren't zombies which may have Infinity Ward swimming in hot water.

NEVER bet against Russians or Sicilians when death is on the line!

I don't play video games.
