Rip Hunter is also the guy who discovered and oversaw "Hypertime."

Hypertime may have been retconned,
because Rip Hunter,
same guy that discovered Hypertime says about the 52 Universes:

Here's Rip Hunter (overseer of Hypertime) in 52 calling the Multiverse "All of Creation"

"Trust the survival of Everything Ever to Three guys"

"Why are you risking the survival of the entire Multiverse"

Here's Rip Hunter telling Booster Gold and Supernova,
they have to keep the existence of the one and only Multiverse a secret.

Rip also calls it "All of Time & Space."

Can it be that Rip Hunter doesn't know about Hypertime?

That wouldn't make sense, because in the Kingdom series.
Rip knew more about Hypertime than anyone (he was the one describing it)

The Oan's first mention the New DC Reality in Sinestro Corps special:

"How did he learn the secret of the 52?"

This is interesting,
apparently DC's prime Earth can collapse the entire Multiverse if it's destroyed,
just like Marvel's 616 Reality:

Only difference is that in DC the Antimatter Universe survives,
in Marvel nothing does.

This is what sets off Countdown:

A lone Monitor travels to the Source Wall
which is located at the border of each of the 52 Universes
to commune with it:

"The Source Wall, barrier of each of the respective Universes.
Omnipotent, all knowing. If the answer I seek is anywhere, I will fin it here"

The Monitor tells the Source that they have felt tension in the Multiverse,
Why is this?

The Source responds, "Great Disaster"

Monitor says, "The the End Time is fast approaching ... how can we prevent this?"

The Source replies, "Ray Palmer"

Ok this is the complete History of the DC Reality from COIE to Now,

according to DC's Countdown.

It seems that several events in DC's History have been Retconned ...
