Iron Man 2 update

Throughout the movie, the actor-turned-director pointed out and confirmed various scenes which hinted at both The Avengers movie (visible S.H.I.E.L.D. logos) and the sequel (he noted that the terrorist cell in the movie is merely one branch of Mandarin's group).

I hope we see Mandarin!!!!

Dude, that's awesome!

Mandarin was supposed to be in the first one, but was taken out. I believe he will be in the sequel.

Nice, but nothing we don't already know. Anyone who watched the film would see the SHIELD logos and heard the references to The Ten Rings, which points to the Mandarin.

I just watched Iron Man last night. One of the best comic book adaptations I've ever seen.

Seems like 2008 has been a good year for comic book movies. The Dark Knight, Iron Man, The Incredible Hulk.

Definitely looking forward to Iron Man 2!!

chinkaniowww

jokes when does it say ten rings????!!!!

I believe that that was the Terrorist orgnization's name.

Favreau's own words...

That's great stuff!

I remember reading about the Mandarin before the first film came out Favreau was gonna tone him down a little bit because he's a bit racist in the comics.

i want to hear that commentary

I'm guessing that Raza is Mandarin.

Nah, the novelization clarifies that Raza is just a servant of The Mandarin.

Besides, that actor sucked.

Cheadle is Replacing Howard in Iron Man 2

Don Cheadle is stepping in to replace Terrence Howard in Marvel Studios' Iron Man 2, says The Hollywood Reporter.

In the first film, Howard played Col. James 'Rhodey' Rhodes, Tony Stark/Iron Man's best friend and future armor-clad hero War Machine.

The trade says Marvel had no comment, but sources close to the deal said negotiations with Howard fell through over financial differences, among other reasons.

Marvel, which had wanted to work with Cheadle, then decided to take the role in another direction and approached the actor, who is shooting Antoine Fuqua's Brooklyn's Finest.

Justin Theroux is writing the screenplay for Iron Man 2, coming to theaters on May 7, 2010. Jon Favreau is returning as director, and Robert Downey Jr. is expected back as Stark/Iron Man. Gwyneth Paltrow also is expected to be back as Pepper Potts.

Terrence Howard did a good job as James Rhodes imo

Howard did a good job. He's about the same age as, if not a but younger than, Downey Jr. Cheadle is a very good actor but he, at least, looks older than, Downey Jr. It'll be weird seeing him in a role I already identify Howard with.

*crossin fingers*

Howard did a great job! just kinda put out to hear hes gone but Don Cheadle is a great actor!!! I am sure he will do fine.

Not sure if I believe the Hollywood Reporter, (1) wasn't it them or Daily Variety that said that Iron Man wasn't going to fly in the film, (2) I believe Downey, Jr, Paltrow and Howard all signed on for three films so I have no idea where the Hollywood Reporter is getting their information

I'm not excited to see Mandarin. Like, at all.

He's Stark's top nemesis. You know it has to happen.

I would like to see how they redefine the Mandarin for modern times, though. He can't be a Chinese stereotype.
