So what was his purpose in Annihilation? It could have been to how people would react to him gaining power again these still are assumptions you are pulling out of nowhere to justify your claim until it is actually retconned Thanos lost boo whoo get over it.
Did you read annihilation because this comic explained his purpose. He wasnt out there trying to acquire any items of power. It was a clone and was explained by the same writer in another comic.

I basically said he was bored so what everytime he's bored he does crazy stuff like helping super villains acquire power?

When he realized his goal he turned on him. He thought it was interesting was all. Thanos did help him immensely. The point is that Thanos doesnt seek items of power for himself anymore. He wasnt doing that in Annihilation.

Thanos does whatever the writers want him to do...if they want him to find powerful artifacts..then that's what he'll be doing. You can never know what a comic character will do until it is written by the writers. Writers can change characters on a whim.

Thanos owns...

This is true in all accounts. I see quan's point. Thanos changed over the years and has grown.

Even back in the old Captain Mar-Vell days he was a beast...

And Supes hasn't? Supes grows more than almost any character in comics, except when he's shown to have gotten stronger, people tend to ignore it.

Supes grows more than almost any character in comics, except when he's shown to have gotten stronger, people tend to ignore it. People still try to put Supes and Thor as equals, when all evidence shows something entirely different. I think Supes is sronger, faster, and more durable than; sure Thor has also gotten upgrades over the years, but they aren't as constant as Supes.

As for this fight, I see Supes taking this. He's way faster, Thanos will never be able to hit Supes physically if Supes doesn't want to be hit, and if does get hit, so what, he can take a punch, I believe him to be just as durable as Thanos if not more considering the attacks and blasts he's survived over the years that's way more impressive than Thanos. People give Thanos the higher durability because of his fight with Odin and Tyrant...okay so, Supes has also faced skyfather level beings before and was able to hold his own. But people are going to ignore that also right?

Than people try to make it seem like Supes won't be able to harm Thanos physically, because of his fight with Odin. Just because he took hits from Odin doesn't mean characters lower than skyfather would be able to hurt him. And how many times was Thanos hit anyways in that fight? Not that many, it was mostly an all out energy blasts fight wheather than a physical battle, and was interrupted. With Supes speed and strength which is more than enough to off Thanos, I see this match favoring Supes.

As for Thanos having better energy projection, what good is it going to do. Shooting energy blasts at Supes isn't a winning strategy, as Supes is fast enough to dodge them if he wants. This guy run circles around DS OB, an attack that follows it's target; Thanos energy blasts should be less difficult.

Sorry for double posting.

Writer A.K.A. the One-Above-All.

His purpose in Annihilation was simply to um...find something to do. In recent years he's been a bit of a neutral character...but deep down he's still a villain, and gets a bit of a kick out of humiliating Surfer and especially sticking it to Galactus. Which is what he did, (with a LOT of help, obviously). I certainly didn't think acquiring power and controlling the universe (again) was on his agenda.

he said was "he grew bored with the same life cycles playing out thier variants over and over" and he "was curious to see how a radical tilt in the universal balance would play out".so in other words, with his influence, he can destroy or save whatever he put his mind to.

But we can judge a comic book character based on past performances and the likelihood of what the character would do. The writers made sure we knew that Thanos wasnt about that nymore and actually explained his purpose in Annihilation which wasnt to obtain power for himself.

People dont ignore but it seems on here sometimes people ignore his losses. We have to take all wins and losses into account.

Ill give you some examples where he didnt grow to become more powerful than the character he faced.

1.Hunter and prey he needed help,an amp, and entopy for the win.
2.In the Sinestro Corps where he faced off against Cyborg and was crushed by three blows.
3.In death of the new gods when he faced the shadow demons and was overcome to later be saved by Free.
4.In death of the new gods when he was beaten up by Kalibak and Mantis.
5.He was brought to his knees by Dr Light.

Now before anyone comes to Superman's defense note that I AM NOT SAYING THAT SUPERMAN LOSES ALL THE TIME OR THAT HE FAILS TO RISE UP TO THE CHALLENGES THAT COME BEFORE HIM. I am saying that he does lose sometimes and does need outside help. The characters I named here were better than him and had him on the ropes.

I have a few questions that I would like you to answer.

1.Has Superman beaten every top tier he faced?
2.What skyfather has Supes beaten that is in the same league as Odin or Tyrant?
3.What fights in particular are you referring to that proves in your opinion that Supes has greater durability?

Superman has beaten Dominus.....he wins.
