Third Riddick Movie

I liked what the Necromongers could do...The whole destroying the planet thing was all good stuff but the over elaborate design of the soldiers was like some shitty future role play game cosplay disaster...Not to mention that the names Necromongers and Furions are two of the cheesiest, gayest names in sci-fi history.

And Colm Feore will never play a bad guy better than Andre Linoge.

Whatever, brah. I suppose if there were Ewoks, lightsabers, and Jar-Jars it would be better, huh.. 🙄

Why do you always take every criticism of a movie you like personally?...Robtard is right about you...I'm surprised you can even sit down with the massive amount of butt hurt you display.

😐

Not "butt hurt" (whatever the f#ck that means). You know what they say about opinions, right? They're like assholes... everyone has one. MY opinion is that Star Wars is overrated by sci-fi nerds. It's too family friendly, which goes against the nature of the story. Same thing that killed John Carter. Do I wish Chronicles didn't have to go the PG-13 route? Yes, but that's the way the business goes. Oh well. They're back on track now, though.

Yeah the 18 rating could work in its favour in terms of content but might kill it at the box office. I'm hoping it's good. I've actually spoken with David Twohy several times via email over the last few years. Great that he actually answers fans personally through his own website. Nice guy.

Oh, really? This website, you mean?

What did you talk about?

He's in talks to write/direct AvP3.

Yeah that's the one...Mostly about Riddick's character...He kept schtum about future projects although this was way before Riddick 3 was even being written...You should give him an email through his contacts page and see if he'll spill any info.

Huh... how 'bout that. I just might do that. I could probably think of a question or two for him...

May do a good job of it

overall i'd rather see them reboot that those movies.

I sent Mr. Twohy a question. Will let you all know what I asked and what his response is (if he responds).

Might be a busy man at the moment.

Oh, damn. IMDB estimates the budget for this at $38 million. That's significantly less than $60 million, which is what I saw a while back.

That's about half of that "The Prototype" film you posted about.

Still it's amazing what can be done on a small budget...Cube being the best example I can think of.

Pitch Black was only $23m and that's still one of the best sci-fi films of the past 15 years.

Oh yeah, it's a good thing for sure. Means there will be more of a focus on story and characters. And it's still plenty enough budget to have some nice visuals. Twohy's strengths will come through better with a lower budget.

(I do like Cube, btw. That's a cool film)

Made on a budget of $20,000 too. (although IMDB says it was a lot more it was actually only 20k)

I never get a response when I ask, "So...what are you wearing right now?" 😮‍💨

Do you have a fetish for Hollywood writers/directors? That's pretty weird, bro... 😛

Anyway, speaking of Mr. Twohy: I watched A Perfect Getaway again last night. That's a pretty clever little film. Repeated viewings makes it more interesting (since you know the twists that it's taking with the characters). I enjoyed it more seeing it for the 2nd and 3rd times. There were perhaps one or two pieces of dialogue that didn't fit too well, but if you all haven't seen it, I recommend it. It's a meta film, meaning it refers to itself.. sort of a self-parody, but it's serious. I like self-aware stuff. It's pretty nicely written.

Alright, so I'll confess: I re-friended Vin Diesel on Facebook, and here is his latest Riddick update...

You know I like to let you in on things, even before Hollywood knows...

Haha...

Last night I was invited in to the editing room, to see the first cut of the new Riddick...

WOW!!!

P.s. I was so affected/excited... I couldn't sleep.

GRRRR!!!

I just got a stiffy.

So Mr. Twohy was kind enough to answer my question:

Email from yours truly (the Leech) to Mr. Twohy:

Hi, Mr. Twohy.

Big fan of your work and am extremely excited about the new Riddick film. I wanted to ask if we can expect the irreverent religious undertones to be continued and built upon as the series continues?

Thanks. Take care. : )

Mr. Twohy's response:

Always.

DT

Haha, awesome. I kind of already knew the answer to my question, but I knew it would be cool hearing it from him and I also wanted to ask something that I was pretty sure he'd answer. Has anyone heard word of the release date? A while back Vin seemed to imply that the studio would make a decision soon, but I haven't seen anything.
