Third Riddick Movie

Don't mean to get anyone's hopes up again (still nothing new, really). Just some stuff that I hadn't read before. An interview with Katee Sackhoff and a separate interivew with Karl Urban (mostly about Dredd, but he mentions Riddick)...

CraveOnline: Can you tell us anything about your character?

Katee Sackhoff: Just that she’s a Nordic bounty hunter.

Karl Urban [Source]

Ok. Do you have a particular affinity for the sci-fi genre?

No. I mean I’ve done a lot of films that are in science fiction/fantasy genre but I’ve also done a lot of films that aren’t.

Do you get to be in the third Riddick?

Yes.

How different was that from The Chronicles of Riddick?

Oh, I had a great time getting back together with Vin and David Twohy and getting back to the character of Vaako. I essentially have to transition from Chronicles of Riddick into Riddick’s new adventure. I’ve seen a bit of the film and it’s really, really good so I’m looking forward to that getting out there.

Did they scale it back to the more intimate style of Pitch Black?

I guess it’s probably more similar to Pitch Black than to Chronicles.

If Karl thinks it's good, that's very, very exciting!!

Well, wtf... No Shit. We've known that from the beginning. They got my hopes up because they had an article about Riddick. 😬

What would he say?

"It sucks, don't go see it."

If he didn't think it was very good he could have said nothing at all. And since he's one who seems to know good bad-assery (i.e. Dredd), I tend to trust his judgement.

Starbuck and Judge dredd in riddick

****... is this real life?

Vin just posted again on Facebook about it...

I just saw the latest cut of the new Riddick...

Speechless.

P.s. Grrrrr

No, he is going to promote his movie by saying it's good.

So you think 'ol Twohy is paying him handsomely to say good things? Probably not, considering the film was having some trouble financially at one point. I think this is something that he does (not only for the paycheck), but also because he genuinely likes it. Kinda like Vin.

Oh snap, just saw this on Vin's Facebook. I assume he's talking about Riddick...

P.s. The studio announces the release date this month, shhh, haha... didn't hear it from me.

99.9% of actors say their movie is good, I don't why you are trying to ignore this, but w/e.

Except with Karl Urban he actually means it.

Just finished playing Butcher's Bay again after a bunch of years.

Riddick is a character that kind of got thrown around in the second film. Too epic for his shoes personally though I actually enjoyed it. And knew that most people would hate it.

A sequel to that film is going to be a tough sell. Why would the Necromongers put their new king in a situation like Pitch Black???

I'm curious. It wasn't hard to make a sequel to Pitch Black and they honestly screwed it up pretty heavily. Hope this works wonders.

Yer not making much sense here...

The Necs crashing their ship in a Pitch Black scenario?

And Pitch Black NEVER needed a sequel...it was Riddick's character that created a fan base & hopefully starts a franchise of films to come.

An update! Not from Vin this time, but Twohy!!

Feels like I’m back in production!

Been pulling 14-hour days trying to finish RIDDICK. My typical day starts at 9am with intensive visual effects meetings, sweating out the details of our 900 VFX shots. Then I jet across town to the mix stage, Soundelux, where I supervise the sound, balancing out the often-competing elements of music, sound fx, sound design, and dialog. At night I hit the lab, Technicolor in Hollywood, staying until midnight to do “DI work” — color-correction of the movie. This is where David Eggby and I have one last chance to get the images right, dropping in grads and power windows to finesse what we shot on set. It’s a great tool, the Digital Intermediate. Kind of like Photoshop for movies. Gotta love it. Gotta love the challenge of bringing it all home.

Sometimes I forget how much goes into putting the finishing touches onto a film. This is a good reminder.

First look at the Riddick logo

I just posted that, brozenji.

Wherever it is, its not working it.

Works fine for me, zenjibro.

Vin posted on Facebook that Universal will see the movie today to decide the 2013 release date. Sweet.

Oh dear lawd... that might be better than a release date. That's what I've been waiting for. I'm loving the look. Nice find, thanks Kaz.
