...After all, people only follow religion because they want to live for ever. none of them really love the God they follow and if they did they would be greatful for the one life they have and certainly respect the lives of others

I don't follow my religion because I want to live forever. I don't want to live forever. I follow my religion because it gives me a frame work so I can make my life better here and now.

Maybe you don't but I guarantee that if god did exist and were to manifest himself to mankind, telling everyone there will no longer be eternal life. That we only got one life and that when you died you were truly dead, you wouldn't find many people still going to their churches, mosques, synagogues or temples. Very few would be happy or greatful and few would glorify god for their one and only life.

No one would live a life of dedication and denial for zero reward. Organised religion is a persuit for the foolish and feeble minded. It's a curse that imprisons the mind!

Well, the "social control scam" has nothing to do with my religion.

in my religion - the Christianity in the Bible - God and eternal life are related... eternal life is promised as the reward for those who will be saved... i know that there is a Bible verse that says "do good, and lend, expecting nothing in return" (Luke 6:35), however this pertains to physical or material things... don't expect physical/material things in return for good works, because there is a far better reward than physical/material things - which is the eternal life...

also, the religion in the Bible is not like the religions nowadays... the true/pure religion is to worship God, do good works (helping orphans and widows) and keeping yourself clean spiritually (James 1:27)... that is THE religion being preached in the Bible... it's not about money, fame or influence...

and just to be clear - this is my belief... and i'm not attacking anyone... 🙂

Oh come on man! This crap is just as bad! You don't need much faith to believe in God but for this stuff it's par with mountain moving

"If you wish to free yourself from the sufferings of birth and death you have endured since time without beginning and to attain without fail unsurpassed enlightenment in this lifetime, you must perceive the mystic truth that is originally inherent in all living beings. This truth is Myoho-renge-kyo. Chanting Myoho-renge-kyo will therefore enable you to grasp the mystic truth innate in all life." (WND, 3)

Sorry to be blunt

Like I care. You speak with no understanding.

You are simply letting words get in the way.

Try this:

It is basically the same thing but with scientific words instead of the words of a 13 century monk.

Infact I doubt there is little much difference between chanting Myoho-renge-kyo and whipping yourself up into a self induced frenzied delirium of euphoria, as there is in a Christian getting him self in the spirit and babbling away in tongues.

And! What are you opening yourself up too when you're in that state of suggestion? You want to be carful mate! Even in the bible it says that the devil appeares as an angel of light. You don't need this foolishness to be a decent person and live your own unique and remarkable life.

Well I'm not really into atheism either. It's just another religion when you're looking in from the outside. Faith and reason are utterly hostile to each other so the fence is a nice place to sit and appreciate the world going by.
knowledge is justified true belief.

Chanting is a form of meditation. I find meditation too difficult, because I have too much going on in my head. Chanting allows me to impose order onto my thoughts, and gain the same result as meditation. It is not a "self induced frenzied delirium of euphoria". It is a calm, quiet place were I can be at peace.

😂 There is no such thing as a devil, demon or satan. These are all mythology.

That article was not atheism, it was scientific. Did you even read it?

If it was scientific, that means it was atheist.

Because the bible is exclusively unscientific, and if you're not a Christian, you worship a false deity and are unwittingly just an atheist and a satanist.

I'm facetiously venting about my disdain for the way in which certain people think right now, just to be clear.

Not at all. There are many scientists that are theists or agnostic.

First, Christianity is not the only religion in the world, and secondly, Christianity doesn't have the right to declare who is atheist or not. Their beliefs are only their beliefs.

Is that an excuse? 😉

nope.

in the Christian doctrine, not all non-Christian members are idolaters, atheists and satanists... Christianity even preaches that non-members can be saved through good works...

I read through it. A tad hypothetical though

I'm going to start my own cult and I want you all to my first set of followers. In this brand new cult everybody gets to die once and eventually become star dust for all of eternity. The only rule is that you must pay me 7.5% of your net monthly salary and for that you will also get a beautifully designed bi monthly magazine packed full interesting stuff.

It will be called the Unity of Ever Lasting Stardust Church

Any takers?

Enlighten us. Please.

How EXACTLY do you punish a sin or an action, etcetera, WITHOUT punishing the person who committed that sin or action?

Kindly give a specific EXAMPLE of this.

That is what I am asking our friend.

It cannot be done so to say one hates the sin and loves the sinner is idiotic.

The question then would become, why does God kill those he can rehabilitate or cure.

A moral God would cure those he says he loves. He would not kill them.

That is what my Gnostic Christian God does.

Really!

Why then does scriptures have him sending the vast majority of us to hell then the lake of fire and thus killing the vast majority of souls instead of curing them?
