Respect The Kingpin

Respect the Kingpin of Crime, Wilson Fisk

The Kingpin is a badass. There’s no two ways about it.

Not only is he a master manipulator and schemer, but he’s a complete animal in a fight as well.

The vast majority of the comics in my collection are Spider-Man comics, so most of these feats/fights are against Spidey. But it’s a great indicator of just how powerful he is, because he usually gets the better of Pete in their fights.

This is just a small sampling of feats. There’s no doubt quite a few more that can be added, but I think I have enough to justify making this thread (about 50 scans)

So enjoy, and Respect the Kingpin!

This is his very first encounter with Spider-Man. They are roughly evenly matched in the brawl, but then Kingpin outsmarts him and puts Spidey down with knockout gas.

http://img402.imageshack.us/my.php?image=513yc7.jpg

Here’s what Kingpin does to us normal humans
http://img339.imageshack.us/my.php?image=511ol7.jpg

Classic Spidey and KP are evenly matched in strength
http://img352.imageshack.us/my.php?image=514rs9.jpg

Their 2nd encounter. Kingpin has a hard time hitting Pete, but once he gets a hold of him he throws Spidey around like a rag doll.
http://img352.imageshack.us/my.php?image=600jw5.jpg
http://img340.imageshack.us/my.php?image=601zx5.jpg
http://img73.imageshack.us/my.php?image=602ol0.jpg

Once again, Kingpin physically dominates Spider-Man. At one point he even pretends like a blow from Spidey hurt him, then he plays “dead” to get the upper hand. He loses the fight, but it’s only because Spidey’s webs caused KP’s cane-gun to backfire in his face. So sans PIS, Wilson was about to roll.

http://img398.imageshack.us/my.php?image=692hm5.jpg
http://img398.imageshack.us/my.php?image=693mp5.jpg
http://img263.imageshack.us/my.php?image=694zp1.jpg
http://img263.imageshack.us/my.php?image=695nb6.jpg
http://img383.imageshack.us/my.php?image=696gs3.jpg
http://img398.imageshack.us/my.php?image=697op4.jpg

Shocks Spidey with his strength/speed, and also pulls up a carpet and an entire room’s worth of furniture and items.
http://img383.imageshack.us/my.php?image=841bt3.jpg
http://img383.imageshack.us/my.php?image=842nv7.jpg

This is yet another sweet fight. For one, we learn that only Kingpin can operate his cane-laser. Secondly, there’s a moment where Spidey is standing on a cement wall and Kingpin is pushing against him. He’s pressing so hard that he pushes Spider-Man and himself straight through the wall!!! Not charging at the wall, not hitting it, just flat out pushing through cement!!
http://img250.imageshack.us/my.php?image=1631dq3.jpg
http://img383.imageshack.us/my.php?image=1632ne5.jpg
http://img124.imageshack.us/my.php?image=1633zb3.jpg
http://img131.imageshack.us/my.php?image=1634ip7.jpg
http://img395.imageshack.us/my.php?image=1635ra3.jpg

This is a brief fight with Spidey along a fishing pier. Some decent athleticism as he walks up a couple stories along a rope, and swings around to get to Spider-Man.
http://img390.imageshack.us/my.php?image=1641nt0.jpg
http://img124.imageshack.us/my.php?image=1642zc6.jpg
http://img395.imageshack.us/my.php?image=1643uo1.jpg

This is another crazy strength feat. He snaps steel beams with his hands, and single-handedly causes metal rafters to collapse (which look to be about 30-feet tall)
http://img254.imageshack.us/my.php?image=1645ba2.jpg

In this fight, Spider-Man was only fighting with one arm (the other was broke) so it’s not the greatest of feats for Kingpin. But the two still go back and forth, and Kingpin takes multiple licks from Spidey and it just pisses him off. So if nothing else, it’s a monstrous durability feat.
http://img260.imageshack.us/my.php?image=1971bt9.gif
http://img258.imageshack.us/my.php?image=1972nf5.gif
http://img260.imageshack.us/my.php?image=1973ai9.gif
http://img258.imageshack.us/my.php?image=1974qn4.gif
http://img260.imageshack.us/my.php?image=1975po7.gif
http://img260.imageshack.us/my.php?image=1976ca3.gif
http://img258.imageshack.us/my.php?image=1977tt9.gif

This would count as a “skill feat” Hobgoblin has beaten Spider-Man at a banquet hall (Kingpin is there also). He goes to blast Spider-Man one last time, but Kingpin sends a metal serving tray flying in at the exact right moment to block the blast…all while wearing a tux. Reminds me of something Cap would do with his shield…except, well, Cap’s not evil.
http://img258.imageshack.us/my.php?image=2491cn1.jpg
http://img441.imageshack.us/my.php?image=2492dv7.jpg

This is a fight against Captain America. There’s another page to the fight where he beats the living hell out of Cap even more…but this was all I could find. Still, Classic Kingpin >> Cap.
http://img47.imageshack.us/my.php?image=kpvc018mf.jpg
cool

And finally:
I felt this thread wouldn’t be complete without a “pimp slap” moment.
http://img339.imageshack.us/my.php?image=1644qm0.jpg
KP: ”But your face-messing days are over”
SM: “Uuuungh. F-feel so weak…”
KP: “As well you should.”

laughing out loud

My favourite Spider-Man villain when I was a kid!

Here are some quotes from the Kinpin.

"This is no game, I assure you."

"I have waited for this for some time!"

"There is no profit to be made in the destruction of the planet."

"Peter Parker. It is so good to see you looking so ... healthy."

"This is only a temporary set-back."

"Where is the other one?" DD: "Right here, Kingpin! And the name's...DareDevil!"

In the animated series, he was voiced by a black actor, which is funny, because Kingpin would be later on potrayed by another black actor in the Daredevil movie, Michael Clarke Duncan.

Ash, if those quotes are supposed to link to something, they aren't working. Regardless, thanks for posting them.

And this made me smile...

Currently, Kingpin doesn't fight as much, is written less fat, and not as physically powerful. So this is mainly "Classic" Kingpin, since current seems a lot more depowered by comparison.

He drops out of the "fighting scene" in the 90's (all of the feats here are from earlier) and Marvel decided to make him the schemer type, rather than a guy who actually gets his hands dirty. So anymore, the KP >> Cap assessment probably isn't true. But up until maybe the early 90's, it definitely was.

Combat wise? Yep. Intelligence and planning? Debatable. But I'd give Lex the nod over Kingpin personally, in that department.

I remember him doing things well above even 10 tons in the Spiderman animated series from the nineties.

Here is Kingpin training in Japan. He beats 8 black and red belts in 17 seconds. He stated it was to easy and that next time the numbers should be doubles and more weapons should be added. Note that some already had weapons.
