The Kingpin is a badass. There’s no two ways about it.
Not only is he a master manipulator and schemer, but he’s a complete animal in a fight as well.
The vast majority of the comics in my collection are Spider-Man comics, so most of these feats/fights are against Spidey. But it’s a great indicator of just how powerful he is, because he usually gets the better of Pete in their fights.
This is just a small sampling of feats. There’s no doubt quite a few more that can be added, but I think I have enough to justify making this thread (about 50 scans)
This is another crazy strength feat. He snaps steel beams with his hands, and single-handedly causes metal rafters to collapse (which look to be about 30-feet tall) http://img254.imageshack.us/my.php?image=1645ba2.jpg
This would count as a “skill feat” Hobgoblin has beaten Spider-Man at a banquet hall (Kingpin is there also). He goes to blast Spider-Man one last time, but Kingpin sends a metal serving tray flying in at the exact right moment to block the blast…all while wearing a tux. Reminds me of something Cap would do with his shield…except, well, Cap’s not evil. http://img258.imageshack.us/my.php?image=2491cn1.jpg http://img441.imageshack.us/my.php?image=2492dv7.jpg
This is a fight against Captain America. There’s another page to the fight where he beats the living hell out of Cap even more…but this was all I could find. Still, Classic Kingpin >> Cap. http://img47.imageshack.us/my.php?image=kpvc018mf.jpg
And finally:
I felt this thread wouldn’t be complete without a “pimp slap” moment. http://img339.imageshack.us/my.php?image=1644qm0.jpg KP: ”But your face-messing days are over”
SM: “Uuuungh. F-feel so weak…”
KP: “As well you should.”
In the animated series, he was voiced by a black actor, which is funny, because Kingpin would be later on potrayed by another black actor in the Daredevil movie, Michael Clarke Duncan.
Ash, if those quotes are supposed to link to something, they aren't working. Regardless, thanks for posting them.
...
And this made me smile...
...very few actually realize how much of a beast he was. I wish I had that other Cap scan to put it all in perspective. Unbelievable or not, KP is well beyond peak human, probably even pushing 10-tons, since he consistently punked Classic Spidey.
Currently, Kingpin doesn't fight as much, is written less fat, and not as physically powerful. So this is mainly "Classic" Kingpin, since current seems a lot more depowered by comparison.
He drops out of the "fighting scene" in the 90's (all of the feats here are from earlier) and Marvel decided to make him the schemer type, rather than a guy who actually gets his hands dirty. So anymore, the KP >> Cap assessment probably isn't true. But up until maybe the early 90's, it definitely was.
Here is Kingpin training in Japan. He beats 8 black and red belts in 17 seconds. He stated it was to easy and that next time the numbers should be doubles and more weapons should be added. Note that some already had weapons.
