As all of you know, Ushgarak has been providing KMC with non-stop roleplaying action in that far away Galaxy known as the Star Wars Universe. He has introduced several highly-developed characters (ranging from the charismatic and deadly Larios Kuylen to the lovably oafish Vasilik) and a variety of horrible twists that keep us coming back for more. Out of his games we've spawned highly-developed characters of our own and formed friendships (and rivalries!).

However, we've run out of plot. Before we play the games, Ush and his brother, Brith, painstaking write the story up before putting themselves through it. They've been doing that for over six years. How they do it, I have no idea. But they, like us, are only human. If we expected them to lock themselves in a dark room with tons of paper and dice until the games were finished, we'd only be half-right.

Because Ush and Brith aren't super-computers that jot down roleplaying plots at every second of the day, we'd be getting a very half-baked Episode IV for the Prequel Trilogy Era, and there is no Episode II for the Original Trilogy Era as of yet.

And so, in the vein of Ushgarak's Prince of Persia games on Lana's board, I proposed to host a series of shorter games to get an in-depth look at each of the characters that we've been playing for years. They all have a story to tell.

Please voice your interest if you wish to participate. Ush has allowed me to offer a small prize at the end of each game which will carry over into his games.

For the purposes of gameplay, we will be using the newest dice system that Ushgarak has running with his games, dubbed the 'Lego' system due to its intended simple-to-use nature.

UPDATE- Ush has updated the rules to account for new changes, and this is what we'll be using.

REWARDS

Playing Retrospection mini-games is all fun and games, but everyone knows the real reason you try hard to complete games... experience points! As part of Ush's mythos, he has deemed it allowable to dole out xp for completed Retro games.

COMPLETED GAME = 2xp

A small reward, but every point counts!

However, I do not want the Retrospection games to be abused as a source of experience. If one of Ush's episodes is worth a Blade Schtick or two Force Powers- a total of 12xp- then that is the limit of what you can earn from playing.

EARNING LIMIT = 12xp

Xp earned can also only be spent on the character you earned it with. If you played a PT character, for example, you cannot spend it on an OT character!

Seconded! I was thinking it might be a treat for us and a break for Ush. (thik how confusing that sentence would sound if said by a drunk person...) Anyway, it'd be cool to see the Player side of Ush, even if it were just small cameos. Maybe even Brith too, since he has an even more-behind-the-scenes roll in all this.

I absolutely agree. If Ush and Brith can take the time to play, it'd be great to see them making the idiotic mistakes for once.

Somehow, I can only see Ush and Brith screwing up terribly if they're MEANT to screw up terribly, plot-induced.

Update:

"Professionals" is all set and ensured to annoy the crap out of the three players participating. I want to start it off in tandem with another two shorts, so you'll have to wait a teeny-tiny bit.

"Cold War" is receiving some tweaks. Much killing, but also much repetetiveness. I know I would have gotten bored playing it.

"Trial" and "Puppets," though not written yet, will pretty much write themselves based on character backgrounds for Xavier and Tanic.

"Skeletons" will take some very hard thought; I hope you're not impatient, Commissar.

Likewise with "Home," a feature for Roan Trilanger and his Padawan.

I want to get at least three of these set for play before I start any of them.

Sounds really cool. More annoying-ness should be fun. Will each game have a seperate thread or will they all be played here?

I don't deny that at all. Ever since I started Kyle, I've really gotten into antagonizing other players...I mean characters. Rylis, Cass and Joachim in Techno are the best ones. And they all came from in-game events before any conspiracy theories start. OK, I guess BB adn I came up with the Rylis on, but it was just too good to pass up. A smuggler and his alien sidekick just had to have a bounty hunter nemesis!

Still would have been nice had you actually included me in coming up with that little grudge...though I will admit it's certainly given me a lot of fun opportunities to be antagonistic (and actually have an excuse to do so!).

I definitely have the most fun being an annoying pain in the ass in PT, with PoP a close second. Rianna and Mei just don't get along with anyone

I would, but seeing as the games are short, there isn't much I can give you without giving away too much.

Is Cass on there simply becuase he can fly around and shoot things, and happens to be the only one who can really do that?
Because if I had to pick some of my personal favorites, Palidan and Pilesebak are the most fun to play. With Roan and Burn being the overall favorites.

For those of you that didn't know, I am taking a year off from schooling. However, I'm working tons to make more money (somehow it vanishes, I blame food) and just recently began applying for a bunch of colleges. Most applications are due...tomorrow at midnight?

Heh. I think Kyle is a little jealous of your flying skill, even though you have a better suited ship to dogfighting. Beyond that, the people from your planet seem WAY to stuffy for his tastes, and he likes to take the piss out of their kind whenever he can.

Biography: Born on the Nautolan homeworld, Glee Anselm. He lived a fruitful life there for a short duration, and as he continued to grow so did the Nautolans continue to flourish. However, when Vlad was four, a conflict in his village began with the Anselmi. Nearby fishing deposits, which was the town's main fishing source, was claimed by the Anselmi. Several Nautolan fishers have been killed, and the Anselm continued to start their threats. The village took what military they had, and sent them to deal with the Anselmi. They sent Vlad and a portion of the female and children Nautolans to a bigger, and larger city to send for backup.

Vlad was told to stay in the larger city, while the backup arrived to the city. He was commanded to wait until the backup arrives back, in order to report if it was safe to go back. The backup arrived in a week, many wounded and many killed. The numbers of the Anselmi were undercounted, and the tribe that took over the fishing spots was one of the biggest on Glee Anslem. The village was lost, the backup did not even scratch the numbers of the tribe, and barely got out alive. The council in the capital city of Glee Anslem found the fishing spot too irrelevent to produce enough food to help the overall race, and decided to leave the Anselmi the fishing spot. The village was also left, derelict, the council deemed that fighting such a bloody war was pointless for such a little village.

Vlad grew up to six in the capital of Glee Anslem, before he ventured out too far into the sea, and swam high up after seeing something flash across the sky. When close to the top of the water, he popped his head out and saw a ship. Vlad was fascinated by this particular ship. He has seen many space vessels enter and exit the ports above the capital, buying and selling resources. However this one, this one was different. It was silver all around, and had a grace and elegance in it. Quickly, Vlad started swimming after it.

Although Nautolans were known as one of the fastest swimmers, Vlad was unable to follow the ship, but he had a hunch where it was going. There was only one more city with a space port in Glee Anselm, a large city about 50 miles of his location, and the vessel seemed to be heading there, because the last time Vlad saw it, it was lowering orbit into that direction. Vlad swam to the city, as fast as he could. Once he reached the city, he climbed the gate to the port, as the guards wouldn't let him in, and even then he was showing signs of his excellent acrobatic skills, that unusual of the clumsy hands and legs of a Nautolan.

The silver vessel caught Vlad's eyes right away, althought there many other vessels in the port. It was very well protected, with four guards standing in front of it. The guards wore exquisite clothing and had slick, long blasters. However, Vlad then noticed a figure standing not very far away. There were two figures, in fact, one that Vlad remembered well, and one that was a stranger. One of the figures was the head of the council of the planet Glee Anselm. He wore his most beatiful green, emerald robes, and had Nautolan guards with him. The second figure, was an aged man, with years of wisdom in his eyes, he too was dressed in fine royal clothing, but definately not clothing of the Nautolan tradition, and the stranger also had guards with him.

Vlad thought he saw one of the stranger's guards flick an eye at him, and suddenly, Vlad got very scared. He felt like this was a very bad idea, and started backing away, fast. Suddenly, he hit something with his back. He felt it with his hands. Something smooth. Vlad turned around and saw the back of the silver ship.

"Hey, did you hear that? I thought I heard a thud somewhere in the back..." one of the guards up front said.

Vlad fell silent. He only partially understood Basic Galactic, but one of the few words he made out was "hear." Vlad heard steps, and started panicing. He looked around and saw a door in the silver hull, he started prying it opened, and to his amazement it opened with ease. He got in, and closed the door. The place smelled of extravagant foods and drinks, and Vlad realized he must've gotten into the compartment. He heard the guard check the back, and then leave to the front agian.
I should wait an hour or two before coming out... Just so that stranger and the head councilor will leave so I can safely get out thought Vlad.

Waiting, Vlad started falling into a sense of sleep. The long swim, the rush of adrenaline and fear that swept his body when he heard the guard's footsteps, all this tired him. In a matter of fifteen minutes, he fell asleep. He awoke to a rumble of the lock at the door. Then he heard voices.
"We forgot to lock all the doors, Reed... If the senator heard about this, we would have our jobs fired right when we come back to Coruscant... So for both of our sakes, don't tell him"
Then, more footsteps. People were entering the ship. Then, a rumble of the ships engine. Another fear struck Vlad, and he tried to open the door, but it won't budge. The ship flew up, and traveled out of orbit.

The ship arrived at Coruscant, the guards found him, and took him by his arms, and threw him down on the floor, one of the guards proposing to throw him down the skyscraper port.
"Are you out of your mind? Senator, what kind of criminals do you have serving as your guards?" said a man, dressed in white robes. Vlad felt someone help him up and looked around. He saw a black man, he was tall, and there was something kind and astounding about him, and his confidence and resolute was felt everywhere.

"We are so sorry, Master Windu! This will not again!" stuttered one of the men, and both of the men walked away after a lecture from the Senator.

"It seems you have brought us... A gift" said Mace to the Senator.

"I don't know how he got in... Very peculiar, I will make sure to take him to the oprhan center, Master Windu" replied the Senator.

Mace stared at Vlad for a long time, until the Senator asked him what was it that so interested Mace in Vlad.

"I will take him with you. I feel the force in this one..." said Mace, simply, before telling Vlad to follow him.

"Well, Senator, like I said, I am happy that you are safe back in Coruscant, and that Glee Anselm is still so loyal to our Republic."

Vlad was trained in the Jedi ways by Mace Windu himself, and was one of the most acrobaticaly-fit Jedi in the Jedi Order, and, althought after a long decision by the Jedi Council, he was given the rank of Jedi Knight.

Right after achieving the Jedi Knight title, he was sent to a mission on a planet in the outer rim. After completing the mission, Vlad lied to the council that he was injured and that he will stay on that planet for medical help for a few days. The council agreed, and Vlad flew to Glee Anselm, where he was warmly greeted, but his ultimate goal was to kill those responsible for the death of his village. He searched for a whole day, before he found his derelict village, he then assassinated and killed countless Anselmi, and the destruction of one of the greatest Anselmi tribe was a consequence of this. After such rash actions, after massacring so many Ansalmi, Vlad regreted his actions, and when he traveled back to Corsucant, he was almost ready to forfeit his Jedi Knight rank, until a wise talk with Mace, which Vlad has never forgotten in his life, and which helped him to get rid of any anger, or revenge, he ever had and most likely would ever have.

Oh boy. More of a story than a background, no offense. And even Xeth wouldn't have massacred a village, even if they were criminals. Not to mention you really wouldn't be a Jedi if you did that...

Pretty sure even Rianna wouldn't have done that when she was a Jedi...which means someone who's meant to be a light-sider would definitely have not even entertained such a thought seriously.

Well then I guess there can be something more to Vlad

But, Anakin did massacre Tusken Raiders, and I beileve he wasn't excluded by the Order right away. He still fought throughout the Clone War.

Though in Anakin`s case, Council didn`t know...

And the Council hadn't even wanted to train him, and he ended up going all evil anyway...

Erm...Anakin didn't tell anyone but Padme (excluding EU) and eventually fell to the Dark Side.

But it really wasn't the massacre that pushed him, but his desire to save Padme. And then he gained confusion and frustration as a consequence, and broke down fully to the dark side and embracing his power.

You don't think the death of his mother and the massacre did anything to push Anakin towards the Dark Side? He was getting revenge through violence and he sure as hell wasn't acting like a Jedi while doing it.

Contributed, but very partially. His attitude didn't change because of it during the Clone Wars, and he even gained a title of Jedi Knight. (Correct me if I'm wrong)

I think that he meant that it wasn`t SOLELY this act, so Vlad could redeem himself.

Yes, he did, but Anakin is shown consistently to be angry and losing control from the death of his mother onwards.

I think it might be better that Vlad went there with murder in mind, but stopped himself from committing the crimes and instead negotiated some situation to make sure that the tribe never harmed anyone again.

I'm interested, Rex, for Scarlet.

Yes, because things were getting worst for him. Nightmared of Padme dying, greed for power, and so on. Actually, if you have troubles with coming for a plot for Esgabath, Rex, Gallador will be fine as well. It can be during the time he was a Jedi, so he can have game with some of the Jedi players.

It will also be easier for you if you combine players for the game.

Actually, I posted his extensive background near the end of character`s creation thread.... I assume that the only part that may be overuled by Ush is the fact that the woman Esgabath desired and his brother married was from Kuylen family.

I assume that Commisar would have his solo story, which is cool, but Gallador pre-failling to Dark Side could have a mission with some of the PT Jedi characters, which would be really interesting.

Could easily change the Kuylen woman, of course.

She could be from another Boyar house, of course. House Esgabath could still be connected to Kuylens.

So just choose story that suits you the best, it is not my fault that I have more than one character with interesting past.....

I don't think there will be any. I asked Ush if any background explorations would conflict with his current expectations for future games, and his only answer was Gallagher's (for rather obvious reasons).

The story for Tanic is actually very nearly done, and the Commissar's I have a general idea of what I want for it, but it must be written.

Questions, though, for the two of you:

- What year did Tanic fall to the Dark Side?

- What year did Melkor Esgabath's mother die?

I don't even know what year the game is set in... Which means I shall have to do some reading.

The Phantom Menace and the entire first campaign are set in 32 BBY. Year 0 is A New Hope. Return of the Jedi is set in 4 ABY.

The first and second episodes of the second campaign were set in 29 BBY.

The third episode was set in 27 BBY.

Well, it is 5 years before Yavin in first Episode? Let`s say that Esgabath is 29 then, and his mother died when he was 18. So 16 years before ANH. Esbabath did the failed coup against his brother and was banished several years later. For most of his time in Imperial service he was Tarkin`s subordinate.

I would participate, but my characters really don't have much to play out that would be a) interesting or fun or b) not in conflict with what Ush has planned.

Gallagher went on many missions with his Master, but it wouldn't be that exciting prancing about with a Lightsaber skill of 8. After he got severely broken by Sienar, he basically spent all his time in the Jedi Temple, to heal and to study. As for Galahad, he's a politician. Other than stuff with Gallagher and Sienar, his life isn't so interesting. It starts being interesting when he joins the Rebellion.

How unfortunate.

In other news, Roan's game may be ready for play soon.

Anyways! In addition to the recent completion of two games, two others have sprung up in their midst! "Runaway," the follow-up to Xavier Kolarn's recent story, and "Learner," another examination of a Psycho Brigade member when she was such an adorable little girl, Rianna Xi.

I have also received a request for a short game for Con Gordo, in order for Bardock to flesh out his character (now that he has finally decided on a template!)

Updates on the current games running-

"Brothers" is hovering around the half-way point. Melkor has endured the difficulties on Erengard long enough.

"Home" still hasn't quite gotten out of the gates, nor has "Puppets." No fault of the players; college is busy! Especially if you've moved countries to attend college. But the introductory situations are almost done. Not much further!

"Cold War" seems to have come to another stand still. It happens. Especially if Dak isn't killing something!

And... I think that is all of them, right now.

Also, I might have a Christmas present for the Psycho Brigade. I say Christmas present because I know I will not be busy in December due to my extended holiday.

Oh sweet, Psycho Brigade fun...

And I have to point out that playing Rianna as a Padawan, while she was still normal and not murderous, is just inherently amusing and SO funny for me.
