I don't think we see him getting his hands dirty often enough. Granted, Cyke doesn't rely on his hth skills too often either, but I could see him trashing Doom.

He had a great showing against Wolverine in the early "All-New, All-Different" X-Men days... but there was context, namely Wolverine recovering from the Proteus' assault. The fight was a therapy of sorts.

You're being much more generous to Cyke than me, though.
Cyke's gotten MA training sure, as part of his X Men training, but not enough to put him above the level of guys like Nick Fury, Tony Stark, Rick Flag, Steve Trevor...guys that do well against nameless mooks like in the scan Stilt posted, and low level bad guys.
Cyclops has been established as a very decent martial artist all in all. He lacks the cheese feats that Doom have, but his display of precision skill and prediction make him quite competent.

^^^Two scans of Cyke fighting no name mooks doesnt put him anywhere NEAR two characters who rely almost exclusively on their MA skills to keep up with metahumans of all size and shape/were trained by the likes of Batman and Shiva.
Again, Scott received MA training, as part of his training to become an X Man, and thats fine.
That puts him at a level of say, military personnel, not among some of comics' most elite MAs.
Yeah, i'd say he's decent.

Thats an odd way of thinking. Fighting legions of "mooks" is how you get established. Ninjak for example almost exclusively faces mooks, same goes for Shadow, etc.. whereas chars like tim drake fights named combatants and routinely gets outclassed. Scott just has more to rely on than simply h2h skills.
As does the guy who contends with Strange in magic and Tony in tech...
Good catch Stilt on the non canon. Still,the other scans showed him without the benefit of his armour systems etc against Tchalla and Cap, two very formidable MAs,....
