After a strong start, it felt like the show was meandering a bit for a few episodes, but episode 8 was solid. Apparently, the same people wrote episodes 1, 8 and 9, but not the others, and you can kind of tell.
Also, I liked how they paid homage to comic Bullseye by having [SPOILER - highlight to read]: Dex use one of his teeth as a weapon.

I thought episode 8 was only ok. Another set up episode.
Curious though. Why did [SPOILER - highlight to read]: Matt save Fisk? I know he found out Vanessa set the whole thing up, so does he really believe Fisk has changed or is it as simple as he went full on hero mode and reacted with the code that he saves people?
IIRC, according to the writers, that was Matt "regaining his grace" or something along those lines after his attempt at retribution against Bullseye in episode 1, which is in line with the speech he gave Fisk in the diner. But we'll see how it plays out.

I think he should have at least explained why he saved Fisk, given we got no other resolution this season (it seems more like a mid-season break) and everything that went to s*** in episode 9 wouldn't have happened if he didn't take that bullet for Fisk.
I mean I'm sorry, no matter how Holy you are you don't just take a bullet for a guy like that. Matt isn't Ghandi after all. He does fight and he is violent.
Like Batman says in BB "I'm not going to kill you but I don't have to save you."
IIRC, this was originally intended to be a single 18-episode season, but got split up into two seasons after they decided to make some changes. And it's very obvious in both the pacing and the way the season ended, and not in a good way. It had some good moments but also plenty of problems, which means the final product ended up being pretty mid overall. Hopefully, season 2 will iron out the kinks and improve things.

^ They should have just called it "Season 1 Part 1".
I know it's just a name, but it makes a difference on how we look at it. Could tell me to look at it that way in my head regardless, but they've not told me that. They've told me this was season 1, and I'm like "huh?"
With the current times I can understand having an art imitates life thing where the bad guys win more for the time being, but the main problem was how it didn't feel conclusive by splitting this show into a 1st half and 2nd half.
