Shocking Claim: Eighty percent of Vatican priests are gay according to an explosive new book which claims to uncover double lives of homophobic priests who use male prostitutes
Four out of five priests are gay.
Isn't this something the Catholic Church preaches again.
Another hit piece. That number is higher then Hollywood or the theater, it doesn't make sense. And, I don't really see how they can prove their claim, so there's probably a ton of fuzzy math and skewed assumptions in there, if not outright fabrications.

Don't be a jerk just to be a jerk, but if you are expressing your true inner feelings and beliefs, or at least trying to express that inner child, and everyone gets pissed off about it, never NEVER apologize for it. Let them think what they want, let them define you in their narrow little minds while they suppress every last piece of them just to keep a friend that never liked them for themselves in the first place.
I sometimes wonder who these arsehats are, exactly. Like, is it random people with a "clever" idea? Or does all the cuckery come from a small, tightly knit group of jerks with too much time on their hands and an axe to grind?

There's no conflict with being gay and a priest, the religious conflict is not being celibate.
The Catholic church should do away with the ridiculous and outdated "Priest can't marry and have to be celibate" rule that goes back to the 12th century, the church survived just fine for close to a thousand years with priests not being celibate. Let them get married, let them have consensual sex outside of marriage.
I also applaud those gay (or otherwise) priest who use adult sex escorts to relieve their sexual urges instead of raping children
True, there's nothing wrong in and of itself, if one is gay and a priest.
From the tone of the book, I think it's pretty obvious they're appealing to the "See? They're moral hypocrites! And they unnaturally oppress sexuality!" crowd.
If they want to target moral religous conservatives, that's fine. I don't like how they keep trying to take down an entire organization, and lump in all it's followerers (I mean, what if that pedo-rabbi I mentioned awhile back was a cornerstone of a piece that claimed all Synagogues are corrupt? That kind of narrative wouldn't last a second, before it was rightly called out as attacking an entire people.)

I wouldn't mind this kind of change in the Church, I don't think celibacy makes priests or nuns any holier. Priests also don't have the defacto social power they had back when the celibacy rule was instituted.
It could be a renewable vow eventually if they really want to keep a part of that tradition, but like with any member of the Church celibacy should be a choice and not an obligation.
The number seems to high, though who knows. Given the general stigma of homosexuality in religious households, it's possible that a lot of gays decided to become priests in order to avoid having to deal with their sexuality, prevent any urge from slipping out and/or atoning for their "sins".
