Wasnt the original RE3 around as long? The length for this seems par the course for an RE game. There is also the replayability to consider, but I guess they added the Resistance online mode in case people felt the campaign alone wasnt enough to warrant the $60+.
And not every game needs to be super long to be satisfying. After the long burn for me that was the Doom Eternal campaign, I welcome something like this that can be completed in a more timely manner.
I do like some of the extra unlockables from the menu shop that appears after your first runthrough. RE1 S.T.A.R.S. outfit (which I'm using now for my current runs), the flaming knife, and such. Figures infinite ammo weapons would be there on top of that though.
Wonder how tough the Nightmare and Inferno difficulties will be once I have them unlocked, regardless.
The unlockable cheat code weapons dont affect trophies/achievements, and even then, Nemesis is still as tough as he usually is when it comes to the boss fight encounters and such whether you use them or not, as I found it. The extra weapons mainly just make the zombies easier to deal with, but doesnt make the Nemesis a joke or anything, surprisingly. I like this challenge, and am only on hardcore at the moment.
Yeah, would probably give it the same rating in hindsight.
Back in my day, we paid $60 for brand new triple A title games. Hell, I paid $60 for the original RE3 back when it came out. This game is definitely worth the price of admission, when it comes to quality and effort put into the game. As for length, it's actually pretty similar to original RE games in terms of that. You could beat classic RE titles in the 2-3 hour mark on a replay, about 5-8 total on a first playthrough. Resistance definitely adds a lot of value and I've spent more time in that than anything once I beat it.
Honestly, even the RE2make was pretty by the numbers IMO as some discussed earlier, much as I enjoyed it. This just felt more of the same except shorter.
Finished with the trophies recently in any case. Nightmare and especially Inferno difficulty was no joke. Had to do the latter twice because of S rank completion time shenanigans, but how much faster and dodgy the Nemesis is as a persuer on the last couple difficulties is legitimately terrifying, especially so on Inferno, as you can only save up to five times total on that difficulty iirc and there are no auto-saves, so if he kills you somewhere as he did me once, you're ****ed and have to start over from the beginning. Right before the boss fights is pretty much the only viable time to save your progress on Inferno.
Stage 3 Nemesis was also a much harder struggle than it was otherwise on the last difficulties, since his giant arm attacks and such will kill you in two or three hits if you don't respect and memorize his attack patterns. That part forced you to master the dodge mechanic as opposed to spamming it.
Suffice to say, Nemmy has still got it as the best Tyrant and one of the best bosses/persuers of the series, and will be remembered as such. I knew this entry would be more divisive because of the length or whatnot, but feel I got my money's worth, though I also get where those disappointed with it are coming from. That said...
It makes me less confident in the event that they follow through with more remakes, even though there's not much left for them to try and modernize besides Code Veronica. RE4 and anything after doesn't need a remake which I'll still stand by.
I used to buy the COD games for their SP campaigns (which were always around 4-5 hours) so I get it.
But most I tend to treat remakes differently than new games because a lot of the major work has already been done. This game should of been 50ish bucks (CAN dollars), not full price.
Or....release both RE2 and RE3 as one package for full price.
As for other remakes....they are going to do it for RE4.....there is no question. It's big business.
Gender: Male Location: In Luna's mane, chasing STAAARS!
RE2 and 3 had to wait without much support from Capcom for more than a decade before they finally gave them remakes meanwhile RE4 has been constantly shoved down our throats and up our anus with never ending ports. A remake for it now isn't going to excite this generation.

Personally, RE4 is by far one of my favourite games of all times. I would be happy with a complete graphics remake. It would very neat playing RE4 with 4k textures and a brand new lighting system that uses HDR and ray tracing.
I don't even know if they should also allow shooting while moving...because I assume enemy encounters would need to be messed with.
That's fair. It's just as decent as the RE2 and 3 remakes we got were imo, despite lacking some small things from the originals here and there, I just don't see how a remake for 4 would in any way improve upon the original, besides maybe visually, but it's aged fine. It could still happen anyway if they see enough profit for it, but I too question how much excitement there would be for a remake after all the numerous ports 4 has already gotten. Not to mention with how renowned 4 has already been, a remake would have ridiculously high standards to live up to.
But yeah, Code Veronica, let's go.

Yeah. It was good but nothing groundbreaking. In fairness it makes sense to view the RE3make in a similar light. The latter has plenty replay value too if you decide to challenge the hardest difficulties.
