You might want to note that this armored Skull is really beatin' the crap outta Cap and he seems helpless like a baby. Cap , indeed, would have died if it wasn't for the SHIELD agents and Diamonback's LMD that came to his rescue in the last minute
Red Skull is a man of wealth and taste, and he can be very persuasive if he wants to.
Here's trying to buy Spidey's conscience, with money and sweet words. (please log in to view the image)
As you can imagine, Spidey refused the offer in the end, and he had to fight all of Skull's lackeys to get out of there, but he was certainly tempted, just look at his face.

Just for the record, the Korvac that Red Skull defeated is likely to be one before the transformation on the classic Korvac saga. He is still a cosmic threat that fought one on one against Dr. Strange though.
How could we forget the death of Captain America as one of the best
of Skull's feats

Cap is gunned down as he's brought to the federal courthouse
The assassination orchestrated by the Red Skull, involves Crossbones as a sniper and Dr. Faustus posing as a S.H.I.E.L.D psychiatrist, who gives Sharon Carter a hypnotic suggestion to shoot Cap at a crucial moment
Crossbones shoots Cap in the back and provokes chaos among the crowd, In the chaos that ensues, Cap is wounded three more times in the stomach and chest, this time by his girlfriend, Sharon Carter. Rogers is taken to a hospital, where he dies
Now Sharon is on the edge of suicide and Cap went to the afterlife knowing he was killed by the woman he love
This proves that Red Skull doesn't just likes to kill, he also loves to inflict mental anguish
Cap died not as a hero, but a criminal, while being booed and despised by the citizens he always defended, while having rotten eggs and tomatoes pouring on him, gunned down by the woman he loved..
This is what happens when you mess with the Red Skull. He surely took his time to get rid of Cap, but he made the waiting worthy

After so much abuse from each other, Doom still has enough regard for the Red Skull to invite him to Latveria and to be surprised by him. Lets remember that this is the same Doom that said to Beast that he had nothing that could interest him:
I think Brubaker really forgot about the historical enmity between these characters, i mean, as far as i know, the last time Doom and Skull faced each other was in Acts of vengeance, with Doom hitting Skull with a backhand and Skull shooting him down after that
of course, It could be argued that they are just making business here, and for villains, usually "business comes first"
MOST EVUL BASTARD EVA!
No, not that time at least. During all that story Cap was wearing his black costume and John Walker was the one using Cap's starspangled uniform btw
