The idea is sometimes they can create the content based on fan feedback....blah blah blah.
I think it's bullshit. It's software as a service in my opinion.
I don't understand why they can't have a dedicate single player like the past Hitman games (which I think everybody wants) and then have a online component where you get added contract assignments as well.
Personally, open world games make sense for a fair bit of games. Far Cry in open world made a lot of sense because Far Cry was a pretty wide open game. Same with other games as well. I don't know if Hitman would work as open world game. I always got pleasure from Hitman on the location of the missions and the many ways of assassinating somebody. For instance, the missions structure in Blood Money is fantastic. Each level would have it's uniqueness that an open world game would not have.
Oh well....let's see what they do with it but I'm kind of annoyed they decided to get away from Absolution (which hardcore fans didn't really want) but instead of taking it back to it's roots, they decided to step the other direction completely.
On the SQEnix forums, one of the mods said flat out that there would be a story mode. The trailer, from what I saw, implied that there would be both story AND online.
If it's just online, then that sucks obviously. I'm just not ready to go one way or another.
For some reason, the messaging on this game if ****ed. They say there is a story mode but every interview I have seen suggest that there isn't a dedicated story mode like previous game but instead assassination contracts released periodically.
The developer even said during the PC conference show that they are releasing on Dec 2015 so they can get the game into people's hands instead of making them wait until next year....
Was a fairly good interview I thought. I haven't watched any of Joe's interviews before but he seems to be good, putting the people he is interviewing on the spot quite a bit.
I noticed Hakan didn't seem to want to discuss if there was going to be an actual story or not but I am hoping there will be. It sounds good as it is anyway. Perhaps it's an NDA type situation?
Gender: Male Location: In Luna's mane, chasing STAAARS!
I don't know where Square Enix is going with Hitman. So you buy the game but won't get all the missions, they'll only come out a bit at a time throughout next year like if you bought GTA and all the missions for that aren't present and have to wait for the rest via update yet the publisher denies it being like purchasing an early access. I'm so confused.

It's software as a service. Or kind of like a more polished Steam early access title.
The devs excuse is that they can get the game out earlier if they do it this way and that they can tailor the new missions with feedback from the fans. Previously, they said they couldn't do that.
I call bullshit. I hate this this crap. Just give me the full ****ing game later on.
You'll probably be able to buy the full game later as a bundle or something.
Over the past two years, my gaming philosophy has pretty much switched to only buying games a year or so after they come out. It's... really ****ing helpful.

I know. I try and I try but those games look soooo goood!
In honesty, games like this I will wait until all it gets ****ing released. I feel the same way about Early Access on Steam. Knowing my habits, I would get bored before all the features get implemented.
I still do my homework and wonder if the game warrants full price and I do take advantage in trading games in so it's not too bad. I also have access to game rentals so any games that are 10 hours and less and no reply value (a game like Heavy Rain for ex.) I will rent. I did that with The Order: 18whogives ashit
And who knows if they will ever finish the ****ing thing.
At least with a full package, you know what you are getting. With this, 6 months after released they say, "we have completed all missions"....and they only did 3 more. I don't trust any of it.
But Destiny sold a bajillion copies and they essentially did the same thing but worst because you have to pay for the extra content.
I like Absolution as well. It kind of modernized how it played. The previous games were ****ing horrible in terms of controls. They were incredibly stiff. Absolution fixed that.
This looks like a Hitman game. Nothing to exciting.
