I was specifically referring to scientific facts revealed in the link that I posted, but I can answer these too.
As pertaining to flat Earth, the word kanaph (kä·näf') is the Hebrew word rendered corner, and can mean any number of things, such as wing, extremity, edge, winged, border, corner, shirt However, the Bible uses figurative, hyperbolic, poetic, and/or symbolic , expressions throughout Scripture.
For example, Genesis 7:17 reads,
Genesis 7:17
And the flood was forty days upon the Earth; and the waters increased, and bare up the ark, and it was lift up ABOVE THE EARTH.
Now, was the ark lifted into outer space? It says that it was lifted above the Earth. The answer is no. Above the Earth means that the ark was hoisted, buoyed, or lifted very high in the air due to the flood waters being released from the chambers of water beneath the ground underwater, and from the sky above as it rained. In addition, the word Earth in that Scriptural context could also mean terra firma (i.e. dry land), in which case it would mean that the ark was lifted above the dry land.
The next verse reads,
Genesis 7:18
And the waters prevailed, and were increased greatly upon the earth; and the ark went upon the FACE OF THE WATERS.
Does water have a face? The answer is no. The word face in that context means surface.
Another passage of Scripture reads,
Ezekiel 7:2
Also, you son of man, thus says the Lord God unto the land of Israel; An end, the end is come upon the FOUR CORNERS OF THE LAND.
The boundaries of the land of Israel weren’t (from a geometric standpoint) shaped like a square, rectangle, or plane with four corners, so God could not mean LITERAL corners of the land. The same rule applies to alleged flat Earth interpretations. It’s like I said at the outset, figurative, hyperbolic, poetic, and/or symbolic expressions appear throughout the Bible. So, no scientific contradiction here either.
The Hebrew word Chuwg (khüg) used in Isaiah 40:22 reveals that Earth is a circle or sphere. Cosmologists describe Earth's shape as being oblate spheroidal. But the Bible revealed it THOUSANDS of years before Pythagoras, and modern astronomers.
Isaiah 40:22
It is He that sits upon the CIRCLE OF THE EARTH, and the inhabitants thereof are as grasshoppers; that stretches out the heavens as a curtain, and spreads them out as a tent to dwell in:
So based on the previous facts, it is clear that the Bible does not teach that Earth is flat.
As far as hares having hoofs, the Hebrew word is parcah (par·sä'), which can mean hoof or claw (which hares have). The SAME Hebrew word is used for both words. So, once again, no scientific contradiction there.
Leviticus 11:6
And the hare, because he chews the cud, but divides not the HOOF; he is unclean unto you.
It’s not just a matter of examining the context. A person who is NOT born again is incapable of understanding the Bible, and cannot even begin to know when the Bible is using figurative, hyperbolic, poetic, and/or symbolic expressions, and when it is not. Such a person can READ, the Bible, but will only be able to interpret the Bible in a prima facie/face value manner, which will inevitably lead to misinterpretation. The Bible is SPIRITUAL Book, with SPIRITUAL import, meaning, significance, and Truths. It is NOT a text book that has a superficial meaning irrespective of context. Again, God instructs us to RIGHTLY DIVIDE the Word of Truth, implying that if we do not, we will WRONGLY DIVIDE the Word of Truth.
2 Timothy 2:15
Study to show yourself approved unto God, a workman that needs not to be ashamed, RIGHTLY DIVIDING THE WORD OF TRUTH.
What Ray Comfort failed to understand before he went on his eloquent tirade, the banana he's holding in his hand looks, the Cavendish banana, looks, tastes and peels the way it does due to human cultivation and tampering.
I apologize. I must of somehow inadvertently erased, or deleted my reply in response to your assertions that the Bible describes “bats as birds”, so I had to re-type them.
Let see, I answered your flat Earth, and rabbits have hooves comments in my last reply, so here's my "bats as birds" reply.
Leviticus 11:13-19
13 And these are they which ye shall have in abomination among the FOWLS; they shall not be eaten, they are an abomination: the eagle, and the ossifrage, and the ospray,
14 And the vulture, and the kite after his kind;
15 Every raven after his kind;
16 And the owl, and the night hawk, and the cuckow, and the hawk after his kind,
17 And the little owl, and the cormorant, and the great owl,
18 And the swan, and the pelican, and the gier eagle,
19 And the stork, the heron after her kind, and the lapwing, and the BAT.
The Hebrew word, `owph (ôfe) (which is rendered fowls, in verse 13 above) includes flying creatures, fowl, insects, birds, and (winged insects). This would naturally include bats because bats are flying creatures.
Also, it is plausible that the Lord might have been done listing all of the fowls, and then included bats to cover all of His bases. So, there’s no scientific contradiction here.
Like I wrote in my last reply to Adam_PoE, there is no contradiction.
The whole,
"...and then included bats to cover all of His bases...."
was just MY opinion.
But with or without the word bat being included, there was no slip on God's part because bats are FLYING CREATURES.
Let me re-quote part of my last post to Adam_PoE,
"The Hebrew word, `owph (ôfe) (which is rendered fowls, in verse 13 above) includes flying creatures, fowl, insects, birds, and (winged insects). The Hebrew word `owph is INCLUSIVE. It even includes WINGED INSECTS.
So, again, this would naturally include bats because bats are flying creatures.
Wrong. I work on the "facts", and the “facts” hold up because the Hebrew word, `owph (ôfe) (which is rendered fowls, in Leviticus 11:13) includes "flying creatures", fowl, insects, birds, and (winged insects) so bats are naturally included in that word.
Colossians 1:16 - For in him all things were created: things in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or powers or rulers or authorities; all things have been created through him and for him.
Um, you're the only trying to include birds, bats and flying insects under the same phylum, class and clade. You're so far removed from facts in ridiculous, you're in the land of fiction, son.
