It's even harder than lifting one! He is holding up the weight of an eleveator, something that weighs 4000+lbs with ONE HAND! That means he can lift 8000lbs with both hands, which means.... he's in the 3-4 ton range, whoa!

? that does not change the fact that if he did not have the strength he would simply let go of the elevator. that elevator was full of people how many people I do not know. also u have to put into account that his gripp would of sucked too seeing how he holding on to just a metal wirer.

I dunno, that's A LOT of weight. Wolverine is starting to seem like a pretty strong guy.

(3) people = 450
wolverine = 250ish

Keep in mind this isn't exactly grip strength the way you are thinking Soleran. His fingers are not hooked UNDER anything. His hand is squeezing the cable from the side, which makes it tougher because of slippage.
