omg ur like soooooo wrong room of fire suxxors!!!

wats strokes?

lmao... Far too entertaining.

Kerrang albums of the year aren't chart toppers or whatever's in the press

1. Green Day 'American Idiot'
2. System Of A Down 'Mezmerize'
3. My Chemical Romance 'Three Cheers For Sweet Revenge'
4. Foo Fighters 'In Your Honor'
5. Trivium 'Ascendancy'

mmm....if you say so

If you want hardcore evidence, jesus man, listen to the damn albums.

matt tong of bloc party is a magnificent drummer...his drumming is flawless on songs such as positive tension and so here we are...cant be denied...just because he doesn't have the need to hit them faster doesn't mean he cant...just accept this as a fact and move on

Because it's been proven that the NME magazine highlights and champions bands of horrible talent just because they're popular. Kerrang don't do that.

yeah...as the list above and my first post in this thead clearly show...that your wrong

wanna be an ameeeeerican idiot!!!!!

.......................... redneck agenda!!!!!!!!!

I like the Stokes...almost picked up one of their albums today. I like NME too, I wanna subscribe...

My dad *points up* threw beer at my mum. WOOOOOOOOOOOO FOR HS!

*cries*

Your dad hates me.

So much that I asked elrond of rivendell to make the wedding rings.

And I poured more beer at her face...... 😄 !!!!

That's a list you made up though isn't it. Because the only two bands from that list in the top 5 last year were My Chemical Romance and Green Day. Green Day aren't shit, My Chemical Romance are. The other 3 were Clutch, Mastodon and The Dillinger Escape Plan.

Chart toppers right?

Yes, he's clearly good enough to be in Bloc Party isn't he? I never disputed that. He's not as good as Martin Lopez, Chris Pennie, Brann Dailor, Gene Hoglan. By light years. Accept that as a fact and move on.

No, you posted a fake, made up list.

Kerrang's top 5 albums last year:
1. Mastodon - Leviathan
2. Green Day - American Idiot
3. My Chemical Romance - Three Cheers For Sweet Revenge
4. Clutch - Blast Tyrant
5. The Dillinger Escape Plan - Miss Machine

We've already seen how that compares to NME's.

Kerrang's top 5 2003:
1. The Darkness - Permission To Land
2. The Mars Volta - De-Loused In The Comatorium
3. Cave In - Antenna
4. Muse - Absolution
5. Rancid - Indestructible

Yeah...real chart toppers. The Darkness. Muse weren't even that big worldwide back then, who knows Cave In? I hate Rancid, they're in there because the mag loved te album, not coz they were "popular".

What was NME's that year?:

1. The White Stripes – Elephant
2. The Rapture – Echoes
3. The Strokes – Room On Fire
4. Elbow – Room On Fire
5. Yeah Yeah Yeahs – Fever To Tell

Oh look, The White Stripes top. Coincidentally just about the most popular band at that time. Oh loo, The Rapture...a band that Robert Smith had been citing for ages yet only got attention because they had songs on some soundtracks. The Strokes, one of the most anticipated follow ups by a band they feltch to death. Yeah Yeah Yeahs, a band who every "indie" kid worth their salt was claiming to love.

I can go on and on and I will.

Let's look at Kerrang's top 5 in 2001:

1. Tool - Lateralus
2. System Of A Down - Toxicity
3. Weezer - The Green Album
4. Jimmy Eat World - Bleed American
5. Rival Schools - United By Fate

Not much needs explaining.

Let's see NME's trend sucking top 5 of 2001:

1 The Strokes 'Is This It' (Rough Trade)
3 Spiritualized 'Let It Come Down' (Spaceman)
3 The White Stripes 'White Blood Cells' (XL)
4 Jay-Z 'The Blueprint' (Roc-A-Fella)
5 Starsailor 'Love Is Here' (Chrysalis)

/Thread.

Tralalalala!!!! *runs around giving beers to everyone*

That's a list you made up though isn't it.

Give it up...You two have being debating about the same damn thing all day. It`s obvious that neither one of you are going to accept that you might be wrong, so just stop it.
Back on topic: the STROKES. Not NME, not Kerrang, the STROKES.

But wait, seeing as this is now about me showing exactly why debating for NME is pathetic because they are, factually, the shitter, more trend driven magazine.

Missy Elliott – Get Ur Freak On
Kylie Minogue – Can’t Get You Out Of My Head
The Strokes – The Modern Age EP
Wndrew W.K. – Party Hard
The White Stripes – Hoel Yorba

You are looking at NME's top 5 singles in 2001.

Coldplay – A Rush Of Blood To The Head
The Vines – Higly Evolved
The Streets – Original Pirate Material
The Coral – The Coral
Black Rebel Motor Cycle Club – BRMC

Here we see NME's top 5 albums in 2002.

They suck off the media and they suck off the popularity. To debate otherwise is foolish.

why...i've just taken a wrecking ball to kerrangs musical integrity...best british newcomer nominee...fightstar...classic

best british band nominees...funeral for a friend...stereophonics...placebo....

and here comes the haymaker

best band on the planet nominee

green day

and he's out for the count of 10

What you must understand is that those magazines are made for the masses, and not for us selective folk.

Masses like mainstream.

Simple as that.

Well done on showing me the Kerrang TV station awards show nominees.

We're discussing the magazines, not the TV station (who as stated, have nothing to do with the magazine or it's writers).

So please do continue.

Green Day being nominated for best band on the planet isn't nearly as laughable as NME believing that Missy Elliot released 2001's best song. AND that was the magazine, not a TV station non-affiliate.

I've just gave you evidence of NME's constant trend fellation. You're obvious and foolish. You're also done.

Come again when you got some sauce.

i've heard of all of them...you've heard of all of them

strangely enough i dont ever remember the yeah yeah yeahs, the rapture or Elbow ever topping any album charts...so that kind of makes you mainstream whoring accusations a bit null and void

I third that

The Strokes are a great band, btw

Quote me again with the parts I added about each band, let's not skimp.

While we're at it:

Spiritualized – Ladies And Gentleman We Are Floating In Space
Radiohead – OK Computer
The Verve – Urban Hymns
Primal Scream – Vanishing Point
Super Furry Animals – Radiator

NME's top 5 in 1997.

It says Radiohead 2nd doesn't it? Two albums after NME rubbished them into the ground saying they'd never outlive Creep and would be gone in a couple years.
