Can you imagine how awesome the real 1981 Little Shop of Horror's ending would have been like for audiences back then?

I mean I grew up on the "Better Homes and Gardens" ending, and I just can't watch anything but the directors cut now. Who the heck was in those focus groups that didn't like it, soccer moms?

It was 86' not 81. By then, The Rocky Horror Show had been made previously. And Little Shop was to graphic based on the plot, which involved sinister themes that were not suitable for children.

I dont think some people could stomach a flesh eating plant at a flower shop/dentist, particularly people who are afraid to go to the dentist already.

And now that plant is an alien that is devouring humans and destroying cities. I don't think children would like to see people panicked and scared, even if it is a dancing singing plant.
