If you are using the boiling oil, Anglomir, that means an assault has started. You know you cannot hold against a full assault like that. You need to delay the time of the assault as much as possible- to give Vardalain time.
But the enemy army hasn't formed yet, giving you plenty of options. Once they are here, your options rapidly start to diminish.
