USH'S LOTR RP Game part 2- The Fortress of Baranar

Started by Darth Revan211 pages

Revan stands up. "I stand with Argentis. We must go to Arthedain's aid, not helping them would indeed mean sealing our own fates. But at the same time, flat out war against such a force would be suicide."

I wonder why most of these elves and others think so highly of themself, I took the "trouble" to learn their name and they refere to me as 'the man'

((sorry I would have called you by your character's name except for I get all these LotR names confused))

"I wonder if these silvan elves arent more related to human race than mine..They still don't know that éothed name is Argentis..maybe some lack of mind"[I]

😂

((when I put stuff in double parenthesis like this that means it's OUT OF CHARACTER!! My char didn't say that))

(well i haven't seen a single elf laugh...like....ever?
so she was probably ooc also 😛)

Better a mortal than a stuck up dandy... Darvan thought with a vicous grin.

((He's joking... Mostly 😛))

(My character was thinking you could not hear me Trickster. So I can not reply you 😉)

He was thinking? Why was it in speechmarks?!

Oh and I slightly changed the post...

((And my character DID know the name of "the man" but I didn't at the time))

(But maybe it was my thought....So: Italic when he is thinking; "..." when speaking; none when I introduce to talk/do something; and (...) out of character lihe this post....Silvan's...pfft 😛)

(I changed my post too italic....err..I cant do it)

~At Baranar

"Gentlemen, please, we must make our decision soon! The land is dying, along with its people..."

Rivendell

After listening to the disputes Eliara had decided in her mind, that the best thing would be to meet the war. She thought about her home lands and of her friends and relatives.......

She shut her eyes for a moment and became frightened. She saw some sort of vision, whether it will happen or whether it was from her own fears is unknown.

In her vision
She was standing out on the balcony and as she looked out across the lands and over the river she saw huge clouds of smoke that were rising up into the sky out of fierce fires. The only place the fires had not reached was the palace.

She opened her eyes up and stared at the table. She was fighting the tears that were trying to swell in her eyes.

What does this mean? She thought.

Darvan kewpt looking round the group. He saw tears welling in Eliara's eyes.
"Eliara? Are you hurt?"

awh airangel..your posts are just so touchy *snif*
heartbraking, actually
*wipes tear away*

really..i bet vardalain is so very impressed 😛

(hee hee....😂)

Eliara looked over at Darvan, "Just a bad thought...I suppose....it's nothing really." She said.

Ok, at this point, the represenatives from the various Elven realms will make their views clear.

The Elves from Lorien point out that first of all, they know that no enemy force will ever pass inside the boundaries of the Golden Wood. Therefore, they are not personally in any danger- unless a great power is indeed growing in Dol Guldur. THAT is their concern. They would remind all present that the Last Alliance is done, that this is Man's Age, and it is not the place of the Elves to interfere in a matter which Man brought upon himself. The Witch-King is a Man, after all, and that he has Orcish allies is of no consequence. This is a matter for Man. Once already this Age, Elrond asked help of the Lorien Elves to drive back the Witch-King. He did this on one condition only- that it was the last time. That convenant was made. Lorien would need a better reason than peril to man to change that. Enough Elves have died in Man's defence and NO difference has been made. How many more must die for no purpose. Lorien grives that Man has become so divided but no-one has any right to ask for more of them to die in their defence.

The Elves from the Mirkwood point out what they did before- intervention is impossible. They are already fighting an extended war with dark creatures lurking in the Mirkwood, AND they too are concerned with Dol Guldur. They wish as much as anyone that Angmar would cease to exist but they have their own problems. As they say, ideally, Man would be aiding THEM. They have an interest in what happens in Angmar- in case it afects them- buyt aid to the Humans is out of the question.

The Elves from the Grey Havens point out that Mithlond, especially, has no part to play in Mortal affairs. Cirdan guards the route to the Undying Lands, and that is the only reason he stayed. Mithlond is also far to the west and there is no reason to think it will ever be directly threatened. Cirdan most definitely has nothing in the way of a standing force that could be lent anywhere for help. Cirdan makes one offer only- refugees from the war would find welcome in his realm. Beyond that he can offer nothing.

Elrond will finish the argument, speaking for both Rivendell and for all Mankind.

Elrond starts by saying that if there are any at all who doubt his commitment to the cause of Man, they should rememher the following- that he is half-human, that he has fought alongside Man in the greatest battles Middle-Earth has seen, and that responsibility for the continuance of the Arnorian line after Sauron's defeat was in his hands. No Elf, perhaps, has ever taken so personal an interest in Man's ways.

Long did Elrond strive to give Arnor counsel. Many are the times he gave advice that would have stopped the current situation. On each time he was ignored. The Pride of man has brought him low- he never seeks advice, only aid and blood shed on his behalf to solve the problems of his own making.

Elrond wishes to make clear the points he has made before. That this is not the ages of the Elves. it is Man's Age. There are not enough Elves to simply make a difference by bearing arms. That Man must solve his own problems, and not look to the dwindling Elder races for eternal aid.

"For five centuries," says Elrond, "the Elves at Rivendell have kept the evil in Angmar at bay. The reason we no longer do so is not because we have grown callous, or careless. It is because we cannot. Our part oin these affairs are dopne., We have saved the Realm of Man once, and that was for but one reason- so that he would gain the strength to protect himself. Sadly it is by no means certain that this has happened.

"Many times this millenium I have seen Man divide upon himself. As I just told, at Amon Sul two of the armies of man were betrayed by the Third. I tell you trhis now- I no longer have any faith in Man. And I will also add the one thing that we all know- that if we send Elvish soldiers to stand at Man's side, all that will happen is that they will die. It will make no difference, and we would leave our own Realms defenceless.

"If I thought, for one moment, that with but an effort of arms I could drive all the evil from Middle-Earth, I would do it, now, this instant. I would even take up my sword again myself. But I cannot, and we cannot, and we fool ourselves if we think we can. THose days are long past. Despite me having lost it, all we can do now, is have faith in the strength of Man, and hope what dwindling sparks of his essence remain are spark enough for resistance to be shown.

"Because the true solution to this problem is not with our OWN sacrifice. The solution is simple. This has happened to Man because Man has been divided. If that division were to stop... THEN Man could fight.

"And about this, I have been endeavouring to do something. Here with me today are two of my emissaries I have sent to King Arvedui's court at Fornost. Perhaps Palanfirith or Vardalain would like to speak a few words?"

(ooc: i am outta here for tonight.....Ush if you want to play her it's ok...just be sensible...hee hee.... she doesn't know if it was a vision..or her thoughts at the moment....and LORD NO..she isn't a seer...in case anyone had a comment..... 😂 later..)
