A note: As, I think Fire said, we here in Europe have a long tradition of keeping a suspicious eye on our socalled leaders. It's not, say, anti-Danish if I critizise the prime-minister to pieces, nor if anyone else does. If someone thinks the French goverment makes a mistake, that's not considered anti-French. It's fustrating for me, that if I think the Bush administration is making a mistake, I'm immediatly acused of anti-Americanism. I happen to have friends in the States, I visit said republic at least once a year, laugh at "The King of Queens", watch 60 Minutes and get thrills at the weekly Michael Moore.

That was supposed to be about war protestors. 😛 and it turned in to an argument about Bush. So I might as well make it a topic.
Bush. What do you think of him, Not nessisarally (sp) the war on Iraq part, but more about how he actually runs the country.

Bush is a hick, Celsius, and not just a redneck, but an oil hording redneck. I think he is an idiot, personally. He burns everyone elses oil and he hasn't even tapped Texas. He has a hard time opening his mind and understanding the big picture. If the USA went solar power instead of burning so much oil, this war may not of happened in the first place. I am not one to believe that Bush's actions are all about looking for weapons of mass destruction and eliminating terrorism. If that were the case we should be more concerned about North Korea. It is all about oil and I won't deny that. I love listening to the news on the bbc, because they tend to say it like it is about my country, the USA. And if anyone thinks I'm un'american since I feel this way, I challenge you to take a deep breath, count to ten, and think about it for a while. Our president's primary interest is in his family business, which is oil! In fact, this country runs on burning oil, eating meat, and depleting old growth forests, three things that are unnecessary for quality life. Bush is a cowboy and probably has a small penis since he thinks he's such a bad ass. I am a fourth generation Californian, so I am obviously an American. So, just because I don't agree with what my president does and just because I don't necessarily agree with the war on Iraq, doesn't mean that I'm not an American. I love the land where I dwell and I would die for it, but not under these current circumstances. Some may feel if I don't like it, get the f*ck out, well, if I were to leave then how would I help change my great country?
i hear ya hiker...BUT the fact that he prefers to burn other ppl's oil instead of texas' is understandable...he want a stock for the usa in case of..anything. Any president would do that if he would have the chance i think. The thing is....who's gonna spend time and money developing economically fezable solar energy when the oil business is so proffitable? 😬..it's all about the money...

Yes, this I know. And like I said, oil is his business so of course he would burn everyone elses oil first. And the people who will spend the time and money developing economically feesable solar energy are probably the same people who are running the oil industry. Once their resources are all gone, they will have already implemented the technology of solar power into our everyday lives so they can control that economy too. That's why I'm talking about 'the big picture'. We need to convert sooner before more terrorism can occur. Of course it won't happen right away, but there is hope that it might happen sooner than we think.

I'm tired of hearing about the "it was for the oil" debate. Believe me, that theory is not as widely accepted as people might think.
And why the rant about not being un-american. No one accused anyone of that. And also believe it or not bbc is also biased. There is no news source anywhere that is completely unbiased and who will "tell it like it is." And i think oil should be used to make a profit for this country, use that profit to invest in a more stable and reliable source of energy aka nuclear power. Think of the possibilities of what a nuclear powerplant could do that used fusion. That kind of power is amazing.
And it's also a smart idea to try and get the oil we need now and make a profit out of it so that when the oil eventually runs out we're ahead in the game to recover from the economic setbacks that will cause.
