queeq is right, but you also have stiff jello and there one combine water with gelatine plates. Prefrely water from non EU countries.

Finti is correct, there is a gelatine substitute that is made from sea weed, but real Gelatine does come from the boiling down of cattle hooves.....

BTW, once they boil it down they do dry it out ya know.
