I do read the responses. Maybee my argument is not clear. At least someone finaly got the concept of fusion.

Look like most people here so stuck on seeing one output, they assume people have not seen the movie. As an avid fan of sci-fi, one thing is clear. What you see is not what you see. This is not like a romance where they show you all. It's like a puzzle. And you have to explore other points of view.

Morpheus says “a kind of fusion.” Obviously the machines haven’t mastered fusion as in “getting two hydrogen atoms to fuse to helium and get the excess binding energy for free” completely.
You SEEM to be asking why the machines use mankind for energy, when they have fusion. But they don’t have full-fledged fusion going for them.
