Most magazines? You act as though they appear in magazines left right and centre.
There have been many things since A.F.D that are better, much better.
Appetite For Destruction was an album with some very good songs. It was a new and much needed move at the time. It was important but only in the sense of the direction it took music in relation to where it was. It's nothing amazing musically. Yes, yes I went there.

"Exactly, and people treat them like they are the coolest thing to happen to music just because they have some psychadellic lyrics and a lead singer who looks good with a bald head. That doesn't make a good band."
You're right. So it's a good thing that myself and all the Tool fans I've met don't like them for those reasons. You know what doesn't make a good band? You know what IS a lame reason for liking a band? Bands with the all black, hoodie, hair over one eye, lame lyrics, high volume and low quality music vibe. That's what doesn't make a good band, it makes a shit band.
Coincidentally those are all qualities that apply to Norma Jean.
"Tool are mediocre, nothing more."
Appetite For Destruction has the odd great song, besides that it's nothing amazing. You seem to think it's a gift from God, so if anyone is out of place when it comes to overrating things, it is you.

His voice isn't that great at all anyways.
Have you listened to his voice? He often goes from growling to beautiful melodious singing to whispering to gut-wrenching screaming within the same song. He is probably the most emotive singer I've ever heard, without seeming over the top. Everything is totally believable. Not to mention before hearing "The Grudge" I would not have thought it possible for a human to scream at an all out roar for a full 25 seconds, which alone should earn him some credit.
Furthermore, Tool do not have "psychadelic" lyrics. Incubus have (or had) psychadelic lyrics. 😉
