Just returned from seeing Captain Corelli's Mandolin, with Nicholas Cage. It's a good movie. Mind you, it's R rated, but there wasn't that much R in it. There were 4 f*** ***'s, 3 scenes showing bare boobs, war violence of soldiers being gunned down. I think that was it. Bet the R rating is to draw the audience. Liked it very much. Love story set in WWII on a Greek island. If Nicholas Cage did his own singing, he's got a pretty good voice. Just like I didn't expect Ewan to have such a good voice in Moulin Rouge. 😄 😄 😄 If it weren't for the f's and bare boobs, I think it would have been less than a PG17, closer to a mature PG13. I would rate it a European PG13.

Before anyone asks in confusion, that's NOT a trick on the last one, just a slight typing slip, I assume.

Also on vidoe there is a special sub-category of U for Universal called U:c, which means Universal (specially suited ofr children).

The early video releases of Star Wars got a U:c rating, somewhat inexplicably. You see, kids film or otherwise, U:c is used for things like Care Bear movies and Teletubbbies, and is massivley inappropriate to a film with death and gunfights and scary guys in black.

They realised their mistake later and changed it to a normal U. Still, there are still people that think the skeletons in ANH warrant a PG.

Obviously the same ones who don't let there kids go trick or treating at Halloween.

Can be pretty scary, at night, if you're drunk.

Personally, I don't let my kids get drunk.
