For the love of almighty crap! The guy just expressed an opinion! Is this meant to be a forum of debate, or something where people with exactly the same opinion gather to say how much they agree and rip outsiders that happen to disagree with them, make typos or type to much even when regular ppl post huge pics or put stupid quotes in their sigs that take up the space of 5 normal posts.
Its not as if he called anyone an introverted obsessed nerdy mother****er, he just said the last 2 films were exploitative cash cows that besmirched the good name of M1 and you got a whole loada ppl laying into him as if hed said your mothers chug serious ass-cock!
This sort of inulectual snobery really pisses me off - theres this little thing called freedom of speach, you need to learn to be more accomodating and mature and stop abusing people for having views that differ from yours.
I'm not only saying this becuase I agree with much of what he said but I really wanted M1+M2 to be the best movies ever and they quite balatently werent. Do you honestly believe that the last 2 movies were even concieved at the time of M1? maybe after it took 100's of £millions but not unitll then.
Fair enough they left M1 open ended enough to allow for sequls but theres no way they were written till they saw the sucess of M1, saw how many ppl were obsessed by it and saw how how many ppl they could exploit if the drew the franchise out long enough. I'm sure that all concerns of artistry, continuity and such like went rite out the window when they realised how much moolah it was gonna take (an estimated $3billion for the franchise), although they had to make sure that M2 was good enough to suggest that M3 would be good as well, thus enusring it breaks all box office records for opening weekend sales, and they had to make sure that they were packed with enough random shit that would enusre plp would watch M3 multiple times to try and extract some hidden meanings and that ppl could say "well if you dont like it its because you cant understand it".
Its an intersting idea to tie it in so closely with a game, but the game was so bad (as an actual game, not the FMV etc) that it was unreal (driving sequences - urgh). the fighting got boring and repetitive after an hour or so and became little more than a means of seeing the next FMV cutscene sequence (and why havent they been ripped and put on the net by now? i tried to play the files outside the game and they would only play without sound). the second one was good, but was almost spolied by the copious amounts of CGI. the transitions between comp and real Neo in the garden fight scene for example was almost laughable, i cant believe they put the bit where neo runs around on the pole in adverts, it makes the film look so stupid and devoid of credibility. when will ppl realise that you cant CGI humans without them looking like Teken characters? i dunno if its just me having played so manyh computer games or seen so many movies but even the fake cars in the freeway scene looked rediculous and outta place, i find it just totaly ruins your suspension of disbelief when you see this cartoon character jigging about infront of you.
I must say i thought M2 alluded heavily to MWAM and many things that suggested this from M2 were not adequetly explained or given suggested explanations in M3. this couldve bene the plan, or - shock horror - maybe they couldnt release more games and DVDs and flims if they ended the story with the scene panning back to show neo, link, kid, ghost, niobe etc still jacked into the power plant.
